Use a task to track work that has an owner, a planned start date, a due date, a status, and an importance level. Sales representatives, sales managers, purchasing officers, warehouse managers, project managers, and finance officers use tasks to manage work that must be completed as part of daily business operations.
A task progresses through its work lifecycle to Due, In Progress, and Completed. When work is finished, mark the task as completed so that its status reflects the completed work.
Before you start
You must have access to the Tasks area and an existing task record to review or update.
Steps
Select Tasks from the application navigation.
Tasks recordTasks record
Open the task record that you need to work on. Review the task information before updating it:
Title identifies the task.
Owner identifies the person responsible for the task.
Start date and Due date show the planned task dates.
Status shows the task’s current lifecycle status.
Importance shows the task’s priority level.
Save any updates to the task by selecting Save.
To save the task and leave the form, select Save and Close.
When the work is finished and the task is ready to move from In Progress to Completed, select Consider As Complete.
If a completed task requires further work, select Consider As Not Completed to treat the task as not completed and return it to current task handling.
Note: Use Consider As Complete only after the required work has been completed. A task can leave the normal lifecycle as All current when it is no longer treated as completed.
Tip: Review Owner, Due date, and Status together to identify which work is currently due and who is responsible for it.
Result
The task is saved and, when appropriate, marked as Completed to reflect that the work has finished.
