Overview
Use the Serial Status reference list to maintain the status values available for serial-related records. Administrators use this page when a new serial status must be added or when the existing list must be reviewed. The list contains serial status records, such as statuses representing operational or warranty conditions.
Before you start
Ensure that you can access Configurations and the Reference List Settings area.
Steps

Navigate to Configurations > Reference List Settings > Serial Status.

Review the existing serial status records in the list to avoid creating a duplicate status value.

To add a serial status, select New.

Complete the required information displayed in the new record form. Resolve any required-field validation messages before finalizing the record.

Where the form applies a character-format restriction, enter only underscore (
_), hyphen (-), and period (.) characters as permitted.
Tips & cautions
Note: The Serial Status page is a reference list. Review existing records before selecting New so that each serial status remains distinct.
Warning: The form requires completion of mandatory information. A record cannot be finalized while required-field validation remains unresolved.
Warning: One field accepts only the permitted underscore (
_), hyphen (-), and period (.) characters. Correct the entered value if a format-validation message is displayed.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A new serial status cannot be finalized. | Required information has not been completed. | Complete the fields identified by the required-field validation message. |
| A format-validation message is displayed. | The restricted field contains characters other than _, -, or .. | Replace unsupported characters with permitted characters. |
| The required status already appears in the list. | An equivalent serial status record has already been created. | Review the existing Serial Status reference list and use the established record where appropriate. |
Result
The Serial Status reference list is available for review, and new serial status records can be initiated by selecting New.
