Find the inquiry types
The Inquiry types reference list is on the Inquiry types configuration page.
Prerequisites
- You have the access described in Before you start.
Steps
-
Open the Inquiry types configuration page.
-
If the login page opens, complete the sign-in action in the following table.
Field or control Action Email Enter your account details. Password Enter your account details. Login Select the control.
The route can also redirect to the home page before the list is available.
Result: You are on the Inquiry types reference list when the route does not redirect and the list is available.
Understand the list and form
The list maintains one visible value, Name. The other configured fields support identification and ordering but are hidden from the list.
| Field | What it is used for | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Name | The inquiry-type value shown in the list and entered in the add or edit form | Yes |
DisplayOrder | The hidden ordering field | No |
InquiryTypeID | The hidden inquiry-type identifier | No |
CompanyID | The hidden company association field | No |
The list does not use paging, and its column headers are hidden. The add or edit form uses the configured columns and opens after an item is selected. The text field applies the required rule and the restricted-name pattern.
The page is part of the shared Sales configuration area. Use the links in the overview to move to another reference list instead of treating those lists as additional inquiry-type fields.
Add, edit, and remove an inquiry type
Maintain an inquiry-type value in the list.
Prerequisites
- You are on the Inquiry types list.
- The permission for the action is available.
- For an edit or delete, the target row is already in the list.
Steps
-
Choose the task in the following table.
Task Action Add a value Select New. Edit a value Select the row edit action. -
In Name, enter the inquiry-type value.
-
Select Save.
Adding a value appends the new value to the list. Saving an edit replaces the matching row.
Result: A successful add shows Data saved Successfully; a successful edit
shows Data updated Successfully.
To remove an existing value:
Prerequisites
- The target row is already in the list.
- More than one item remains in the list.
Steps
-
Select the row delete action to open its confirmation menu.
-
Choose the outcome in the following table.
Task Action Remove the value Select Delete. Keep the value Select Cancel.
Deleting a value removes the row and reindexes the hidden DisplayOrder values.
Result: Selecting Delete removes the value and shows
Data Deleted Successfully; selecting Cancel leaves the value in the list.
When validation or an action fails
A validation or action message tells you what to correct before you try again.
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Name is required | The Name field is empty. | Enter a value in Name and select Save. |
Just '_' '-' And '.' Characters Accepted | The value contains a character outside the accepted pattern. | Correct Name, then select Save. |
Forbidden characters detected. Please remove them and try again. | A filter contains a forbidden character. | Remove the forbidden character and apply the filter again. |
Must have at least one item | The list contains only one item. | Keep the remaining item; deletion does not proceed. |
Related to Saved data, Can't be deleted | Saved data is related to the item. | Keep the item and resolve the related saved data before trying again. |
Failed to Delete | The delete action failed. | Check the item and try the delete action again. |
If the route opens the login page instead of the reference list, complete the sign-in step in Find the inquiry types. If it redirects to the home page, open the Inquiry types page again.
Continue with inquiry records or related settings
After maintaining the reference values, use Inquiries to work with inquiry records. The Sales configuration area also contains separate lists for order chance, delivery terms, payment methods, lost reasons, regret reasons, cancellation reasons, order-cancellation reasons, and requested guarantees. Open the relevant linked page when you need to maintain one of those subjects.
