Before you start
Before you maintain the list, have access to the configuration page and the product-type name you want to enter. The actions available to you depend on the access granted to your account and on the list setup.
| Check before you begin | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Access to the configuration page | You need access to open and maintain the list. |
| The product-type name | Have the name you want to add or change. |
| The available list actions | New, row editing, Delete, and Export can be controlled separately. |
| The visible list columns | The list uses the columns configured for this reference list. |
Find the Warehouse product types list
Open the list to review the product-type entries used for warehouse purchasing work.
Prerequisites
- Have access to the configuration area.
Steps
- Open the Warehouse product types list.
- Review the Type column.
- Review the rows in the list.
Result: The list remains open and shows the Type column with 45 rows. The page has no visible loading spinner.
Understand the list and entry fields
The list shows the product-type name in Type. The entry form uses that same field for the name you maintain, while other values support the list without appearing as entry fields.
| Area | What you use it for | What appears |
|---|---|---|
| List | Review existing entries | Type |
| Entry form | Enter or change a product-type name | Type, a text box, required |
| List actions | Start or manage list work | New, Refresh, Settings |
| Hidden values | Support ordering, identification, and company association | Display order, ID, Company ID |
The list uses the configured column set. The current page shows Type as its list column, and the entry configuration marks Type as required. The configuration does not provide a target-specific select, date, number, currency, or multi-value field for this list.
Maintain the list
Use these procedures to maintain an entry or prepare the list for export.
Add an entry
Add a new warehouse product type to the reference list.
Prerequisites
- The New action is available.
- You have the name to enter in Type.
Steps
- Select New.
- Enter the product-type name in Type.
- Select Save.
If Type is empty, the form displays Type is required and does not commit the entry.
Result: The new entry is added to the list and the list refreshes. When the save succeeds, the
page displays Data saved Successfully.
Edit an entry
Correct an existing product-type name in the reference list.
Prerequisites
- The row edit action is available.
- The entry you need to change is visible in the Type column.
Steps
- Select the row edit action for the entry.
- Replace the value in Type.
- Select Save.
Result: The edited entry remains in the list with its updated Type value. When the update
succeeds, the page displays Data updated Successfully.
Delete an entry
Remove an entry that no longer belongs in the reference list.
Prerequisites
- The delete action is available.
- More than one item remains in the list.
Steps
- Open the row's delete action.
- Select Delete in the delete prompt.
Result: The entry is removed and the page displays Data Deleted Successfully.
Export the list
Export the reference list without changing its entries.
Prerequisites
- Export is available.
Steps
- Select Export.
Result: The export window opens for the list.
Handle action and setup variations
The actions and fields available on this page depend on your list setup and account access.
| If you see… | Use this path |
|---|---|
| New | Start the add procedure in Maintain the list. |
| A row edit action | Start the edit procedure for that row. |
| Delete | Check the number of remaining rows before deleting. |
| Export | Use the export procedure without changing a row. |
| A different set of list columns | Work from the headers shown in your list. |
The delete rule is based on the number of items in the list. The page does not delete the final
remaining item; it displays Must have at least one item instead.
When maintenance does not work
Use the message text on screen to choose the corrective action.
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Type is required | The form has no value in Type. | Enter a product-type name in Type, then select Save. |
Forbidden characters detected. Please remove them and try again. | The list filter contains characters the page does not accept. | Remove the unsupported characters from the filter and try again. |
Related to Saved data, Can't be deleted | The selected entry is related to saved data. | Keep the entry and review the saved data that uses it. |
Failed to Delete | The delete request did not complete. | Review the list and try the delete action again when the entry is available. |
Must have at least one item | The list contains only one item. | Keep the remaining item in the list. |
Continue with related configuration
After maintenance, the list remains the place to review the current Type entries. Saving an entry refreshes the list, editing replaces the selected row, and deleting removes the selected row when the list has more than one item.
