Before you start

You need access to the company configuration area and the permission that matches the action you want to perform. PAMS checks access when the page loads and checks new, edit, delete, export, and import permissions.

Before you startWhy it matters
Access to the company configuration areaIt lets you open the Item categories list.
The item-category feature included in your subscriptionPAMS shows the subscription-upgrade surface when the feature is not included.
Permission to createNew appears only when new access is allowed.
Permission to editAdd New Sub-Category and Edit appear only when edit access is allowed.
Permission to deleteThe row delete action appears only when delete access is allowed.
Permission to exportThe export action is available only when export access is allowed.

Importing is not part of the category-maintenance procedures.

With access in place, find the Item categories list.

Find Item categories

The Item categories list is a company configuration list. Open the company configuration area and select Item Categories.

Prerequisites

  • You are signed in to PAMS.
  • You have access to company configuration.

Steps

  1. Open the company configuration area.
  2. Select Item Categories.

Result: The Item categories list opens.

Understand the Item categories screen

The screen lists item categories in a Category column and opens category details in a dialog. The same dialog pattern is used for a category and for a subcategory.

An item category is a named entry in the item-category list. A subcategory is a named entry under its parent category. The category dialog contains Product category name. The subcategory dialog contains Sub product category name. Both fields are required and use the page's pattern validation. The product-category list contains Product code; this Item categories list does not.

AreaWhat to use
Category listThe Category column.
Category dialogProduct category name.
Subcategory dialogSub product category name.
Existing recordThe log-history area can appear when the record has an ID.

The list shows its rows without a search panel or paging controls. Reordering rows is available on the product-category list, not on this Item categories list.

If you are not signed in when you open the address, the page can show Email, Password, Remember Me, and Login, together with Forgot Your Password? and Reset Password. Complete sign-in before using the Item categories list.
