Open Documentation by Version ID

This page explains how to open a specific published technical documentation version using its version ID. Selecting the correct version helps you review the documentation that matches the release you need.

Overview

Atloria keeps technical documentation organized by project and version. A version ID identifies one specific documentation version, so the version you open can be different from the newest version available for the project.

You may need to open documentation by version ID when a teammate shares a version-specific link, when you are checking a previously published release, or when you need to compare the published content with another version. The documentation opens only when the selected version is available as Published.

From the project workspace, you can use Technical Docs to view documentation and Versions to manage or locate individual versions. The version-specific view ensures that you are reading the intended release rather than automatically viewing another version.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

Access to the relevant Atloria project.
The version ID or a version-specific link from a teammate or project record.
A version that has been published and displays the Published status.
Permission to view the project’s technical documentation.
An active browser session in Atloria.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Open the project that contains the documentation version you need.
Select Technical Docs from the project navigation.
Review the available documentation area for a version marked Published.
Select Versions if you need to locate or confirm the version before opening its documentation.
Find the version that matches the version ID you were given.
Select Open for the matching version.
Select 🌐 View Published Docs when you want to open the published documentation for that version.
Confirm that the documentation content shown belongs to the version you selected.
Use Open Diff Viewer if you need to compare the selected version with another documentation version.
Select 🕒 Go to Version Manager if you need to return to the version list and choose a different version.

Tips and Best Practices

Verify the version ID before you open the documentation. Similar version numbers can represent different documentation snapshots, and selecting the wrong one can lead to reviewing outdated or unintended content.
Look for the Published status before relying on the content for release, customer, or operational decisions. Published documentation is the version intended for viewing outside the generation and review workflow.
Use Versions when you need to confirm which version is current or when a shared version-specific link does not show the documentation you expected.
Use Open Diff Viewer when you need to understand what changed between versions. This is especially useful before sharing documentation with users or stakeholders.
Do not assume that the latest generated version is the version you need. Actions such as ⚡ Generate Next Version and 🚀 Publish Version 4 indicate that generation and publishing are separate activities. Open the version identified by the version ID, not simply the newest version listed.
If you are working with AI-generated versions, use Use V4 AI Version or Use All V4 AI Versions only when those options match your team’s documentation workflow. These actions affect which generated version you work from; they do not replace checking the version you intend to open.

Troubleshooting

The version does not open

Confirm that you selected the exact version ID provided to you. Return to Versions, locate the matching entry, and select Open again. If the version is not listed, ask the project owner to confirm the ID and your project access.

I can see the version, but I cannot view published documentation

Check whether the version displays Published. If it has not been published, 🌐 View Published Docs may not provide the published documentation you need. Ask an authorized team member to publish the correct version.

The documentation is not the version I expected

Return to 🕒 Go to Version Manager and compare the selected version with the version ID you received. If needed, select Open Diff Viewer to compare it with another version and identify the differences.
