Connect an External Integration

page
4 min readUpdated

Connect an enabled integration to link Atloria with your project system. After connecting, you can verify that Atloria can communicate with the external system before you rely on the integration for project work.

Overview

External integrations help you use Atloria alongside the project systems your organization already uses. Use this process when an administrator has enabled an integration for your workspace and you need to connect it to a specific project environment.

The connection process includes two important checks: configuring the enabled integration and testing the connection. The Test Connection action lets you confirm that the integration can reach the external project system before you continue working.

After an integration is connected, the available action may change to Disconnect. Use Disconnect only when you need to remove the existing connection; disconnecting may stop Atloria from exchanging information with that external project system.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have the following:

  • Access to the Atloria project where you want to use the integration.
  • An integration that has been enabled for your organization or workspace.
  • The connection details required by your external project system, such as the approved account, workspace, project, or authorization information.
  • Permission to connect the selected external system. Your organization may require an administrator to grant this permission.
  • A stable network connection so you can complete the connection test.
  • The correct project selected in Atloria. You can use Projects or Open Project Dashboard to confirm that you are working in the intended project.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open Projects.

  2. Select the project that you want to connect to the external system.

  3. Click Open Project Dashboard.

  4. Open the area where enabled integrations are available for the current project.

  5. Select the enabled integration that you want to connect.

  6. Enter or approve the connection information requested by the integration.

  7. Complete any authorization prompts presented by the external project system.

  8. Click Test Connection.

  9. Review the result displayed after the connection test completes.

  10. Return to the project dashboard after the test confirms that the integration can connect successfully.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Confirm the active project before you connect. Atloria provides Projects and Open Project Dashboard so you can open the correct project context before configuring an integration.

  • Use Test Connection immediately after you enter or update connection information. Testing before you leave the integration setup helps you identify incorrect access details, expired authorization, or external-system availability issues early.

  • Connect only integrations that your organization has enabled and approved. If you cannot find the integration you need, contact the person who manages Atloria integrations for your organization.

  • Treat Disconnect as a removal action. Use it when you intentionally need to end the existing integration connection, such as when a project changes external systems or when access should no longer be available.

  • If you manage multiple projects, repeat the connection process in each project that needs its own external-system connection. Do not assume that opening a different project in Projects uses the same connection settings.

  • Keep your external-system permissions current. A connection can require attention later if the account used to authorize it loses access to the target project or workspace.

Troubleshooting

The integration is not available

Only enabled integrations can be connected. Return to the project’s integration area and confirm that the integration is listed. If it is not listed, ask your Atloria administrator whether the integration has been enabled for your organization and whether it is available for the selected project.

The connection test does not succeed

Click Test Connection again after confirming that the connection details and external-system authorization are correct. Verify that the account you used has permission to access the intended external project, workspace, or repository. If the issue continues, check whether your organization’s network or the external system is temporarily unavailable.

You need to change an existing connection

If the integration already shows Disconnect, review whether you need to remove the current connection before reconnecting it with different access details. Disconnect only when you intend to stop the current link, then return to the enabled integration and complete the connection process again.
