Organization audit overview
An organization audit log is a record of actions across all projects in the organization. Use it when you need to review organization-wide activity rather than the history of one project.

Before you review the audit log
The organization audit page loads its filters and events for a signed-in permitted session. Access is limited to administrators and maintainers.
Prerequisites
- Sign in with an administrator or maintainer role.
- Use a permitted session for the organization.
If access is refused, the page displays Only admins and maintainers can view the organization audit log. If the audit request fails for another reason, it displays Could not load the audit log.
With a permitted session in place, continue by opening the organization audit log.
Open the organization audit log
Open this view when you need to review actions across projects instead of working on a project record.
Prerequisites
- Complete the prerequisites in Before you review the audit log.
Steps
- Open the organization settings area.
- Select Audit Log.
- Confirm that Audit Log is the active organization-settings section.
The Members destination belongs to the Organization overview page. Use that page for organization settings and member information.
Result: The organization-wide audit log is open, with its filters and event review area available when the audit request loads.
Understand the audit screen
The audit screen combines filters, an event table, expandable metadata, and pagination so you can review activity across the organization in one place. An audit event is one recorded action; metadata is the additional information attached to that event.
| Area | What you use it for |
|---|---|
| All Actions | Choose an action category; additional action values come from the audit facets. |
| All Actors | Choose an actor; actor choices come from the audit facets. |
| All Projects | Choose a project; project choices come from the project list. |
| Start date | Set the beginning of the date range. |
| End date | Set the end of the date range. |
| Event table | Review time, actor, action, project, entity, and details. |
| Metadata details | Expand an event row to read its metadata. |
| Pagination | Move through results when the loaded event count is greater than zero. |
The organization view includes the project filter and both date fields. The event table can show
up to 50 events per page. When no events are returned, the empty state says No audit events.
The page does not require a filter value before you review the list.
Use these controls to narrow the list and inspect its events.
Filter and inspect audit events
Use this procedure when you need to focus the organization audit list on a particular action, actor, project, or date range.
Prerequisites
- Open the organization audit log.
- Have at least one available filter value when you want to narrow the list.
Steps
- Select an action from All Actions.
- Select an actor from All Actors.
- Select a project from All Projects.
- Enter a beginning date in Start date.
- Enter an ending date in End date.
- Review the event rows returned for the selected filters.
- Select an event row to expand its metadata details.
- Select the row again to collapse its metadata details.
- Select Previous to move to the preceding result page when one is available.
- Select Next to move to the following result page when one is available.
Changing a filter returns the result list to its first page. Previous is unavailable on the first page, and Next is unavailable on the final page.
Result: The list shows the audit events for the selected filters, and the selected event's metadata is expanded or collapsed as requested.
After reviewing the list, continue to Export organization audit events when you need a file copy.
Export organization audit events
Use an export when you need a file copy of the organization audit log outside the on-screen table. The page offers CSV and JSON formats.
Prerequisites
- Open the organization audit log.
- Confirm that the audit page is available for your role.
Steps
-
Select the format you need:
If you need… Select A comma-separated copy Select Export CSV. A structured data copy Select Export JSON.
If an export request fails, the page displays Export failed.
Result: The selected export control requests the corresponding file format for the organization audit information.
Handle empty, loading, and access-error states
The audit page uses distinct messages for loading, an empty result, denied access, and a general load failure.
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Loading... | The audit request is still being processed. | Wait for the audit result. |
No audit events | The current result is empty. | Change the filters or date range and review the result again. |
Only admins and maintainers can view the organization audit log. | Your role cannot view this organization-wide list. | Sign in with an administrator or maintainer role. |
Could not load the audit log. | The audit request could not load the list. | Check the page again after the audit service is available. |
Export failed | The selected export request failed. | Retry the export. |
When the audit request sets an error, the error note appears instead of the audit table.
Result: You can distinguish a loading state, an empty list, a permissions response, a load failure, and an export failure before choosing the next action.
Continue to related audit information
Use Project changes and audit when you need the history for one project. Use Security & Audit overview or Audit reference for broader administrative audit information. Organization overview provides the organization settings context, while Manage organization access covers organization provisioning and SSO.
