View favorited articles

A profile's favorited-articles list is the collection of articles that profile has marked as favorites. Use it when you want to review articles that profile has favorited.

Before you start

You need the profile username that identifies the profile whose favorited articles you want to view. The favorites route uses that username to load both the profile and its favorited articles.

Prerequisites

• Have access to the selected profile's favorited-articles list.

Find the profile's favorites

The profile article tabs let you move between the profile's authored articles and the articles the profile has favorited.

• Know the profile username.

Steps

1. Open the selected profile's favorited-articles list.

2. Choose the profile list you need:

   If you want to…	Select
   View articles authored by the profile	My Articles
   View articles favorited by the profile	Favorited Articles

   The favorites view marks Favorited Articles as the active tab.

Result: The selected profile article list is on screen. Favorited Articles is active for the favorites list, and My Articles is active for the authored-article list.

Understand the screen

The favorites screen combines the profile header with the profile's article list. The header contains the profile image, username, and biography. Each article preview can contain the author's image and username, the article date, title, description, tags, and its favorites count.

The article list changes according to the information available:

The article preview provides several ways to continue. Select the article title or Read more... to open the article. Select the author's username or image to open that author's profile. The favorites count is displayed inside the article's favorite button. When more than 10 articles are available, page-number links appear below the previews.

View and page through the list

Use this procedure to review the articles returned for the selected profile and request another page when the list contains more than 10 articles.

Prerequisites

• Open the profile's favorites route.
• Confirm that Favorited Articles is the active profile tab.

Steps

1. Review each article preview for its author, date, title, description, tags, and favorites count.

2. Select a page number when page-number links appear.

   The list requests that page through the favorites list and displays the returned article previews.

Result: The selected page of the profile's favorited articles is displayed.

Handle different list conditions

The controls around the profile and each article depend on whose profile you opened, the profile's follow state, the article's favorite state, and the number of returned articles.

• Open the profile favorites route.

Steps

1. Use the control that matches what you see:

   What you see	What to do
   Your own profile	Select Edit Profile Settings to open profile settings.
   Another profile that you do not follow	Select Follow followed by the profile username.
   Another profile that you already follow	Select Unfollow followed by the profile username.
   An article that is already a favorite	Select its favorite button to remove the article from favorites.
   An article that is not already a favorite	Select its favorite button to add the article to favorites.
   More than 10 articles	Use the page-number links to request another page.
   10 or fewer articles	Continue reviewing the single displayed list.

Result: The profile or article control that matches the current state is available, and the list uses pagination only when more than 10 articles are available.

When the list is empty or still loading

The list uses two messages to distinguish waiting for articles from an empty result:

The profile area appears when profile data is available. Error messages from sign-in, registration, settings, and article-editing pages do not appear on this favorites list.
