Prerequisites
- Access to the Sales record app.
- Permission to view and, where required, create or edit sales, buyout, instant job, and letter of guaranty records.
- Familiarity with your organization’s sales process and the information required before creating a sales record.
- Access to the relevant company and sales information needed for the record you are working on.
Module 1: Find the right workspace for the work
Goal: Learn how the Sales record app separates company, sales, buyout, and record-level work so you can begin in the right place.
Lesson 1.1: Start from the Sales record app
When you need to begin sales-related work, first establish where the record belongs in the application. Open Sales record to access the app, then use sales when your work is centered on sales activity and company when you need the company context for that work. Use these areas to orient yourself before opening a specific record.
Practice task: Open Sales record and identify whether a sales scenario should begin from sales or company.
Lesson 1.2: Open and review an existing sales record
When a sales activity already exists, your goal is to review its current information before making changes or taking next steps. Open Sales record to view an existing sales record. If you need to work directly on the record, open Sales record and review the information available there before completing your update.
Practice task: Open Sales record, then open Sales record to review an existing record.
Module 2: Create and manage day-to-day sales work
Goal: Create a new instant job and use sales record views to continue work after the initial record is created.
Lesson 2.1: Create an instant job for a new sales need
When a customer or business need requires immediate sales work, create an instant job rather than waiting to work from an existing record. Open Sales record and create the new instant job using the information required by your process. After creation, use the sales record views to continue reviewing or maintaining the work.
Practice task: Open Sales record and begin creating an instant job for a realistic customer scenario.
Lesson 2.2: Update a sales record as work progresses
When the work on a sales item changes, your goal is to keep the record current in the edit view rather than relying only on a list-level review. Start by opening Sales record to locate the record. Then open Sales record, make the required record update, and review the record again to confirm that your work is reflected.
Practice task: Locate a sales record in Sales record and open it in Sales record for an update.
Lesson 2.3: Use pricing as part of sales preparation
When you need pricing input before progressing a sales activity, use the dedicated pricing workspace instead of treating pricing as an afterthought in the record. Open Sales record to work with the pricing tool, then return to the applicable sales record workflow to continue the sales process.
Practice task: Open Sales record and identify a sales scenario in which you would use it before updating a sales record.
Module 3: Handle buyout work through its lifecycle
Goal: Create, review, and maintain buyout records as part of sales-related work.
Lesson 3.1: Choose the buyout workspace for a buyout scenario
When the sales process includes a buyout, work in the buyout area rather than in the general sales area. Open buyouts to begin in the buyout workspace. Use Sales record to review the available buyout records and identify the one that requires attention.
Practice task: Open buyouts and then open Sales record to review buyout work.
Lesson 3.2: Create a new buyout record
When no buyout record exists for the work you need to perform, create one from the new-buyout screen. Open Sales record, enter the required information according to your business process, and save the record. Use the buyout record list afterward to verify that the record is available for follow-up work.
Practice task: Open Sales record and begin a new buyout record for a sample sales scenario.
Lesson 3.3: Review and update an existing buyout record
When a buyout record needs follow-up, begin by reviewing the record with its available data. Open Sales record (with data), then open Sales record to make the needed maintenance update. This approach helps you review the existing situation before changing the record.
Practice task: Open Sales record (with data), then open Sales record for a follow-up update.
Module 4: Manage letters of guaranty and periodic record review
Goal: Create and maintain letters of guaranty while using record views for ongoing review.
Lesson 4.1: Create a letter of guaranty when the sales process requires one
When a sales arrangement requires a letter of guaranty, create it in the dedicated letter-of-guaranty workflow. Open Sales record, create the record using the required business information, and complete the process according to your organization’s approval and documentation practices.
Practice task: Open Sales record and begin a letter of guaranty for a sample sales arrangement.
Lesson 4.2: Review and maintain a letter of guaranty
When you need to check the current state of a letter of guaranty or make a permitted change, first open Sales record to review the record. Then open Sales record to maintain the record as needed. Review before editing so your action is based on the current record state.
Practice task: Open Sales record, then open Sales record for a maintenance scenario.
Lesson 4.3: Include survey-related records in routine review
When completing periodic review work, include survey-related sales records alongside active sales, buyout, and guaranty work. Open Sales record to review the available survey-related record information and determine whether follow-up is needed through the appropriate workflow.
Practice task: Open Sales record and identify one record you would include in a routine review.
