# Redmine (Rails fixture) # About Redmine (Rails fixture) _Welcome_ # Welcome Redmine is a project management and issue-tracking application for organizing Projects, monitoring Issues, and maintaining related project information. It provides a central workspace for work items, project updates, documents, discussions, users, and system configuration. Access the application at: `http://redmine.atlorix-fixtures.svc.cluster.local:3000` ## Who Uses Redmine Redmine supports the following users: - **Project manager** — Organizes Projects, reviews Issue progress, monitors Status, and maintains project information. - **Project team member** — Views assigned work, updates Issues, collaborates through project information and Boards, and follows project activity. - **Issue reporter** — Creates and follows Issues for problems, requests, tasks, or other work that requires attention. - **System administrator** — Uses Administration to configure and manage the application, users, and system-wide settings. ## Main Areas The navigation areas provide access to the following functions: | Area | Purpose | |---|---| | **My** | Provides a personal view of work and activity relevant to the signed-in user. Use this area to review assigned Issues and personal information. | | **Administration** | Provides system configuration and management functions. System administrators use this area to manage application-wide settings and user-related configuration. | | **Issues** | Displays and manages Issues across accessible Projects. Use Filters to limit the displayed Issues, for example by Status, Project, or assignment. Configure Available Columns and Selected Columns to control the information shown in Issue lists. | | **Other** | Provides access to additional application functions that are not part of the main Project, Issue, user, search, or administration workflows. | | **Projects** | Lists accessible Projects. A Project is a managed body of work containing related Issues and project information. Select a Project to review its work, updates, documents, and discussions. | | **Search** | Searches accessible project information, including Issues and other recorded content. Use search criteria to locate relevant records efficiently. | | **Users** | Provides access to user-related information. Users can maintain their own account information and Mail notification settings where available. System administrators can manage users through Administration. | ## Working with Projects and Issues A Project groups related work and information in one place. Within a Project, users can record and monitor Issues, publish or review news, work with documents, and participate in Board discussions. An Issue represents a tracked work item, problem, request, or task. Each Issue has a Status that indicates its current state. Users can use Issue lists and Filters to focus on relevant records, such as open Issues, assigned work, or Issues within a specific Project. When reviewing lists, use: - **Filters** to limit displayed records according to selected criteria. - **Available Columns** to identify fields that can be added to the current view. - **Selected Columns** to identify the fields currently displayed in the view. ## Notifications and Personal Preferences Users can manage Mail notification settings to control which email updates they receive. These settings help users remain informed about relevant Issue changes and Project activity without receiving unnecessary messages. ## Administration Administration is the area for configuring and managing the application. System administrators use it to maintain application-wide settings and user-related configuration. Changes made in Administration can affect how Projects, Issues, and notifications are managed throughout the application. # Administration _Applications › Administration_ ![Administration](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/01f95d47aa0b9bd1d031c96e14fe9c02.png) *Administration* ## Overview Administration is the application area used to access system-level management functions and to move between administrative, project, account, search, and Issue activity areas. System administrators use it when they need to manage users, groups, roles and permissions, trackers, or Issue statuses. Users with access to the personal administration page can also review Issues assigned to them or Issues that they reported. Use Administration when you need to select the correct management area for a system task, rather than when you are working directly on a Project or individual Issue. ## Settings Before using an administration area, confirm that you have system administrator access to **Administration** and the required permissions for the specific area you intend to open. Access to individual areas can be unavailable when the relevant permission has not been granted. | Administration area | Use | |---|---| | **Users** | Open user-account administration. | | **Groups** | Open group administration. | | **Roles and permissions** | Open role and permission administration. | | **Trackers** | Open tracker administration. | | **Issue statuses** | Open Issue Status record administration. | > **Note** > This page provides access to administration areas. The available controls do not show the configuration fields within those areas. ## Workflow ### Decide whether you need system administration or personal Issue activity 1. Identify the result you need before selecting a destination: - Choose system administration when you need to manage user accounts, groups, roles and permissions, trackers, or Issue statuses. - Choose personal Issue activity when you need to review Issues assigned to you or Issues that you reported. - Choose account, Project, search, or session controls when you need to move to a different part of the application. > **Tip** > Select the destination that matches the task. For example, use **Issue statuses** for Issue Status record administration rather than opening a Project first. ### Open the appropriate system administration area 2. Select **Administration** to open the administration area. 3. Choose the administration area that matches the system-level task: - Select **Users** to open user-account administration. - Select **Groups** to open group administration. - Select **Roles and permissions** to open role and permission administration. - Select **Trackers** to open tracker administration. - Select **Issue statuses** to open Issue Status record administration. 4. If the required administration area is available, continue in that area to perform the authorized management task. If it is unavailable, do not substitute another area; the required access may not be assigned to your account. > **Warning** > Administrative areas can affect application-wide records and access. Open only the area that corresponds to your authorized responsibility. ### Review personal Issue activity 5. Select **admin** to open the personal administration page when you need a personal view of Issue activity. 6. Choose the Issue summary that matches the perspective you need: - Select **Assigned issues** to open the perspective for Issues for which you are responsible. - Select **Reported issues** to open the perspective for Issues that you created or reported. 7. Review the selected Issue perspective and continue working in the destination that opens. Use this decision to distinguish responsibility for an Issue from authorship or reporting: - Use **Assigned issues** when you need to act on Issues assigned to you. - Use **Reported issues** when you need to follow Issues that you submitted or reported. ### Move to another application area 8. Select the appropriate navigation control when the administration task requires a different destination: | If you need to... | Select | |---|---| | Return to the main starting area | **Home** | | Open your personal page | **My page** | | Move to the Project area | **Projects** | | Return to system administration | **Administration** | | Open application help | **Help** | | Begin a search | **Search** | | Open account-related options | **My account** | 9. Select **Sign out** when you have completed your work and need to end the current session. ## Examples A system administrator needs to review the administration area for Issue Status records and then check whether an Issue reported by them is visible in their personal activity. 1. Select **Administration**. 2. Select **Issue statuses**. This opens Issue Status record administration, which is the appropriate destination for the administrator’s Issue Status task. 3. When the administrator needs to review Issues that they previously reported, select **admin** to open the personal administration page. 4. Select **Reported issues**. The application opens the perspective containing Issues created or reported by that user. 5. After reviewing the reported Issue activity, select **Administration** to return to the system administration area, or select **Sign out** to end the session. ## Tips > **Tip** > Use **Assigned issues** for responsibility-based follow-up and **Reported issues** for reporter-based follow-up. These perspectives serve different Issue activity needs. > **Note** > **Projects** moves you to the Project area, while **Administration** moves you to the administration area. Select the destination based on whether you are managing Project work or system-level records. > **Warning** > Select **Sign out** only when you are ready to end the current session. Access to the administration and personal activity areas requires a new session after signing out. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | An administration area such as **Users** or **Roles and permissions** is unavailable. | Your account does not have the required permission for that administration area. | Confirm that you have system administrator access and the required permission for the specific area. | | You cannot access **Administration**. | Your account does not have access to the administration area. | Use an account with system administrator access or request the required access. | | You opened the wrong Issue summary. | The selected summary does not match the relationship you have with the Issue. | Select **Assigned issues** for Issues for which you are responsible, or select **Reported issues** for Issues you created or reported. | | You cannot continue after selecting **Sign out**. | The current session has ended. | Start a new session before accessing **Administration**, **admin**, or other application areas. | ## Related pages - [Administration — Overview](doc:admin-overview) - [Administration — Learning Path](doc:workflows-admin) # Administration — Overview _Applications › Administration_ The Administration overview is the central area for configuring and managing the application. Use the Issues area to review work relevant to you, focus the list by Status or other criteria, organize the information shown, and export the current results when required. Project managers, Project team members, Issue reporters, and administrators use these views to monitor and locate accessible Issues. ## Workflow ### Decide which personal Issue scope to review Choose a predefined view when you need to start with Issues related to your own work rather than all accessible Issues. Each view changes the current list scope; it does not change the Issue records. 1. In the application navigation, select the personal Issue view that matches your purpose: - Select **Issues assigned to me** to display Issues assigned to your account. - Select **Reported issues** to display Issues that you reported. - Select **Updated issues** to display recently updated Issues. - Select **Watched issues** to display Issues that you are watching. 2. Review the displayed Issue list before applying further criteria. If the selected view is not the scope you need, choose a different personal Issue view and review that list instead. > **Tip:** Start with a personal view when you need to act on work connected to your account. This avoids applying unnecessary criteria to a broader Issue list. ### Decide whether to narrow or organize the current list After selecting a personal or Project-specific Issue list, decide whether the current results are already sufficient. Use the Status criterion and additional filters to focus the list, then review the columns and grouping used to present the results. 3. To limit the list by its current state, use **Status** and select the required Status criterion. 4. If Status alone does not provide the required scope, select **Add filter** to add another criterion and further narrow the displayed Issues. 5. To review the information shown in the list, examine **Selected Columns**, which identifies the fields currently displayed. Review **Available Columns** to see the fields that can be added to the Issues list. 6. When the list is easier to review by category, use **Group results by** to organize the displayed Issues into groups. Available grouping choices shown in the Issues view include Project, Tracker, Status, Priority, Author, Assignee, and Category. 7. Review the resulting list. If it is too broad, return to **Status** or **Add filter** and refine the criteria. If it is too narrow, revise the criteria so that the required Issues are displayed. > **Note:** Filtering, column selection, and grouping affect the displayed Issue list. Review the final results before exporting them or opening an Issue. ### Decide whether to export the displayed Issue information Export only after the displayed list contains the Issues and fields required by the receiving system or recipient. The export uses the current displayed Issue information. 8. Review **Selected Columns** and confirm that the list shows the information required for the export. 9. Set **encoding** to the character encoding required by the receiving system. 10. Set **field_separator** to the separator required between exported fields. 11. Select **Export** to export the displayed Issue information. 12. If the exported information is not suitable for the receiving system, return to the Issue list, revise the filters or displayed columns, review **encoding** and **field_separator**, and select **Export** again. > **Warning:** Confirm the current filters and Selected Columns before selecting **Export**. The export contains the displayed Issue information, so an overly broad or incomplete list can produce an unsuitable file. ### Decide whether to open an Issue from its Project Use the Project route when you know the Project that contains the Issue. This route starts from the Projects list, opens the selected Project, and then opens its Issue list. 13. Select **Projects** to open the list of Projects that you can access. 14. Select the required **Project name** to open that Project. 15. Select **Issues** to open the selected Project’s Issue list. 16. If needed, use **Filter** to narrow the displayed Issues. 17. Select the required **Issue subject or Issue identifier** to open the Issue record. 18. If you cannot locate the required Issue, return to the Project’s Issue list and revise the **Filter** criteria, or confirm that you have access to the Project and Issue. ## Examples A Project manager needs to provide a list of recently updated Issues for a Project team review. 1. Select **Updated issues** to display recently updated Issues. 2. Use **Status** to focus the list on the Status required for the review. 3. Select **Add filter** if the Status criterion does not sufficiently narrow the results. 4. Review **Selected Columns** to confirm that the displayed list contains the information needed by the team. Check **Available Columns** if additional fields are needed in the list. 5. Use **Group results by** and select Project so that the team can review Issues by the Project to which they belong. 6. Set **encoding** and **field_separator** according to the requirements of the system or recipient that will receive the exported information. 7. Select **Export** to export the displayed Issue information. If the manager instead needs to inspect one Issue in a known Project, the manager selects **Projects**, opens the required **Project name**, selects **Issues**, optionally uses **Filter**, and then selects the relevant **Issue subject or Issue identifier**. ## Tips > **Tip:** Use **Group results by** when comparing Issues across Projects, Status values, priorities, authors, assignees, trackers, or categories. > **Note:** **Available Columns** identifies fields that can be added to the Issue list, while **Selected Columns** identifies fields currently shown in the list. > **Warning:** Access to a Project does not by itself guarantee access to every Issue. You must have access to the selected Project and the Issue that you want to open. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | The required Issue is not displayed in a personal view. | The Issue may not be assigned to you, reported by you, recently updated, or watched by you. | Select the personal view that matches your relationship to the Issue, or open the Issue from its accessible Project. | | The Project does not appear after selecting **Projects**. | The Project is not available to your account. | Confirm that you have access to the required Project. | | The required Issue cannot be found in a Project’s Issue list. | The list may need to be narrowed, or you may not have access to the Issue. | Use **Filter** to focus the Project Issue list and confirm that you have access to the Issue. | | The exported file cannot be accepted by the receiving system. | The system may require a different character encoding or field separator. | Review and set **encoding** and **field_separator** before selecting **Export** again. | ## Related pages - [issues — Overview](doc:issues-overview) - [Issues — Learning Path](doc:workflows-issues) # issues — Overview _Applications › Issues_ The Issues overview provides access to Issue records across Projects. Open **My account** from the available navigation controls. ![My account](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/5cd52942982a81e8f4ecb435e03042b1.png) *My account* 2. Decide whether you need to update your identity details or account preferences. - To revise your account information, complete **First name \***, **Last name \***, and **Email \***. - To adjust personal localisation, select the appropriate **Language** and **Time zone**. - To control email alerts, review **Mail notification settings**. Select **Also notify me about issues with a priority of high or higher** when you want notifications for high-priority Issues, and select **I don't want to be notified of changes that I make myself** when you do not want notifications for your own changes. - To adjust privacy and display behaviour, review **Hide my email address**, **Display comments**, **Warn me when leaving a page with unsaved text**, **Font used for text areas**, **Number of recently used projects in jump box**, and **Issue's history default tab**. 3. Confirm or revise the entered values. - If the required fields are incomplete, complete **First name \***, **Last name \***, and **Email \*** before continuing. - If the details are correct, select **Save** to retain the account record and its preferences. 4. Decide whether to review your personal Issue activity from the personal administration area. - Select **admin** to open the personal administration page. - Select **Assigned issues** to review Issues for which you are responsible. - Select **Reported issues** to review Issues that you created or reported. - Select **Projects** to move to the Project area, **Administration** to move to Administration, or **Search** to begin a search. - Select **My account** to return to the account-related area. - Select **Sign out** only when you are ready to end the current session. > **Note:** Your Mail notification settings determine your personal email alert preferences. The high-priority option is specifically for Issues with a priority of high or higher. ## Change password The **Change password** tab contains the account area for changing your password. ![My account](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/444c1aad82cc7026128b065c3acb4b2d.png) *My account* Use the **Change password** control when you need to access the password-change function. This tab is part of the account area; the available grounding does not identify the password fields or a separate confirmation action. ## Reset The **Reset** tab contains the account area associated with resetting account-related information. Use **Reset** when you need to perform the reset action available from this account area. No additional reset fields, records, or completion controls are identified on the provided screen information. ## Show The **Show** tab contains the account area associated with displaying available account information. ![My account](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/c92a382c24e3216c0037f90f4ad358ec.png) *My account* Use **Show** to access the display action available in the account area. The provided screen information does not identify additional fields or record movements for this tab. ## Examples A Project team member, Maria Chen, needs to update her contact and notification preferences after moving to a new time zone. 1. Maria opens **My account**. 2. She verifies that **First name \*** is `Maria`, **Last name \*** is `Chen`, and **Email \*** contains her current work email address. 3. She selects her preferred **Language** and updates **Time zone** to match her current location. 4. Maria reviews **Mail notification settings**. Because she needs to be informed about urgent work, she selects **Also notify me about issues with a priority of high or higher**. To avoid duplicate messages about her own updates, she selects **I don't want to be notified of changes that I make myself**. 5. She selects **Warn me when leaving a page with unsaved text** to receive a warning if she attempts to leave future pages containing unsaved text. 6. After confirming all required fields are complete, Maria selects **Save**. Her account details and preferences are retained. 7. Maria then selects **admin** and chooses **Assigned issues** to continue reviewing the Issues for which she is responsible. ## Tips > **Tip:** Keep **Email \*** current so that the email address associated with your account remains accurate. > **Tip:** Use **Reported issues** from **admin** when you need to focus on Issues that you created or reported, rather than Issues assigned to you. > **Warning:** Do not use **Sign out** until you have selected **Save** for any account changes you want to retain. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | Account changes are not retained. | One or more required identity fields are incomplete, or **Save** was not selected. | Complete **First name \***, **Last name \***, and **Email \***, then select **Save**. | | You receive notifications for changes you made yourself. | **I don't want to be notified of changes that I make myself** is not selected. | Open **My account**, select the preference, and select **Save**. | | You do not receive notifications for high-priority Issues. | The high-priority notification preference is not selected in **Mail notification settings**. | Select **Also notify me about issues with a priority of high or higher**, then select **Save**. | | You cannot find the Issues you are responsible for. | You are viewing the account page rather than the personal administration area. | Select **admin**, then select **Assigned issues**. | ## Related pages - [My — Overview](doc:my-overview) - [My page](doc:my-page) - [My — Learning Path](doc:workflows-my) - [Your First Day with Redmine (Rails fixture)](doc:getting-started-first-day) # My — Learning Path _Learning Paths › My_ This learning path is for signed-in users who want to make the **My** app work for their personal workflow. You will learn to maintain your account preferences, review issues connected to you, navigate to related work areas, and configure the columns shown on your personal page. ## Learning objectives - By the end of this path you can update your personal identity, language, and time-zone settings. - By the end of this path you can configure mail notification preferences for high-priority issues and your own changes. - By the end of this path you can review issues assigned to you and issues you reported. - By the end of this path you can use personal-page navigation to reach projects, search, account settings, and administration when available. - By the end of this path you can add, remove, and save the columns displayed on your personal page. ## Prerequisites - Access to the **My** app while signed in. - Permission to view your personal issue activity on **My page**. - Permission to access **Administration** if you need to use that area; this option may be available only to users with the appropriate administrative access. - Familiarity with the issues and projects relevant to your work. ## Module 1: Establish your personal workspace Set the account details and communication preferences that make the app appropriate for you. ### Lesson 1.1: Maintain your account identity and regional preferences **Scenario:** Your name, email address, language, or local time zone has changed, and you need your personal account information to reflect it. On [My account](doc:my-account), update **First name \***, **Last name \***, and **Email \*** so your account information is current. Then choose the appropriate **Language** and **Time zone** so the app is displayed and interpreted for your working context. **Practice task:** On [My account](doc:my-account), review your name, email, language, and time-zone settings and update any value that is no longer accurate. ### Lesson 1.2: Tune notifications to the issues that need your attention **Scenario:** You want issue notifications, but you only want urgent items and do not need messages for changes you made yourself. On [My account](doc:my-account), review **Mail notification settings**. Use **Also notify me about issues with a priority of high or higher** when you need additional alerts for urgent work. Use **I don't want to be notified of changes that I make myself** to reduce notifications generated by your own updates. **Practice task:** On [My account](doc:my-account), configure your mail notification settings for the level of issue activity you want to receive. ## Module 2: Review and navigate your personal issue activity Use your personal page to understand your current work and move to the relevant work area. ### Lesson 2.1: Separate work assigned to you from work you reported **Scenario:** At the start of the day, you need to distinguish issues you are responsible for from issues you raised for others to resolve. On [My page](doc:my-page), review **Assigned issues** to focus on work currently assigned to you. Review **Reported issues** to follow the issues you submitted. Use these two areas together to identify both your delivery responsibilities and the requests you are tracking. **Practice task:** On [My page](doc:my-page), identify one item under **Assigned issues** and one item under **Reported issues** that you need to follow up on. ### Lesson 2.2: Move from your activity to the right work area **Scenario:** Your personal issue list tells you what needs attention, but you need to switch to a project, locate a specific item, adjust your account, or—if authorized—perform administrative work. On [My page](doc:my-page), use **Projects** when you need project context and **Search** when you need to locate work beyond the current personal activity list. Use **My account** to return to your personal settings. If your role provides access, use **Administration** for administrative tasks. When you are finished with your session, use **Sign out**. **Practice task:** From [My page](doc:my-page), use **Projects**, **Search**, or **My account** to move to the area that best supports your next task. ## Module 3: Configure a useful personal-page layout Tailor the information displayed on your personal page so it supports your daily review process. ### Lesson 3.1: Add columns that support your work review **Scenario:** Your current personal-page layout does not show all the information you need when reviewing your activity. On [My page](doc:my-page), open the column configuration options. Review **Available Columns** to find information you want displayed. Select the appropriate column and use **Add** to place it in **Selected Columns**. This allows you to build a page layout around the information most useful to your work. **Practice task:** On [My page](doc:my-page), add one relevant item from **Available Columns** to **Selected Columns**. ### Lesson 3.2: Remove unneeded columns and save the layout **Scenario:** Your personal page has become cluttered, and you want to keep only the columns that help you act on your work. On [My page](doc:my-page), review **Selected Columns** and identify a column that is not useful for your current workflow. Use **Delete** to remove it. When the selected set is correct, use **Save** to retain the configured layout. **Practice task:** On [My page](doc:my-page), remove one unnecessary selected column, then use **Save** to preserve the revised layout. ## Final assessment 1. You are traveling to a new region and want dates and times in the app to match your current location. Where do you make this change, and which setting do you update? 2. You need alerts for high-priority issues but do not want a notification every time you make an issue change yourself. Which two notification options should you configure? 3. During a daily review, you need to identify both the issues you must resolve and the issues you originally submitted. Which areas on your personal page should you review? 4. A useful piece of information is missing from your personal-page layout. What sequence should you follow to include it and keep the change? 5. Your personal page contains a column that no longer supports your work. How do you remove it without losing the rest of your configured layout? ### Answers 1. **Use [My account](doc:my-account) and update Time zone.** This setting aligns the app with your local working time. 2. **Configure “Also notify me about issues with a priority of high or higher” and “I don't want to be notified of changes that I make myself.”** The first increases alerts for urgent work; the second suppresses notifications caused by your own updates. 3. **Review Assigned issues and Reported issues on [My page](doc:my-page).** Assigned issues show work directed to you, while Reported issues show work you raised. 4. **On [My page](doc:my-page), choose an item in Available Columns, use Add, confirm it appears in Selected Columns, and use Save.** This adds the desired column and retains the new layout. 5. **On [My page](doc:my-page), select the unwanted item in Selected Columns, use Delete, then use Save.** This removes only the unneeded column while preserving the saved configuration. # My — Overview _Applications › My_ The **My** area provides access to the current user’s personal account and personal page. Use it to choose which fields are displayed by adding fields from **Available Columns** and removing fields from **Selected Columns**. Project managers, project team members, issue reporters, and system administrators can use this page when their current personal view does not show the information they need. Your changes apply only after you save the configuration. ## Settings My Page provides a personal column configuration. No separate feature activation is shown on this page; you only need access to **My page**. | Control | Purpose | |---|---| | **Available Columns** | Shows fields that can be added to your view. | | **Add** | Includes the selected **Available Columns** field in **Selected Columns**. | | **Selected Columns** | Shows fields currently displayed in the saved page configuration. | | **Delete** | Removes the selected column from the displayed view. | | **Save** | Applies changes to the personal My Page configuration. | > **Note:** Select a field before using **Add** or **Delete**. Select it in **Available Columns** to add it, or in **Selected Columns** to remove it. ## Workflow ### Open your personal configuration 1. Select **My page** from the application navigation. 2. Review **Available Columns** to identify fields that are available for inclusion, and review **Selected Columns** to identify the fields currently displayed in your saved configuration. ### Decision: add a field or keep the current selection 3. If a useful field is not currently displayed, select that field in **Available Columns**, then select **Add**. The selected field is included in **Selected Columns** and is prepared for inclusion in your saved page configuration. 4. If all required fields are already present in **Selected Columns**, do not add another field. Continue to review whether any displayed field is no longer needed. > **Tip:** Add only fields that help you review your work. A focused set of selected columns makes your personal page easier to use. ### Decision: remove an unneeded field or retain it 5. If a displayed field is no longer useful, select it in **Selected Columns**, then select **Delete**. The selected column is removed from the displayed configuration. 6. If the selected columns are still required, leave them unchanged. Do not use **Delete** unless you have selected the column you intend to remove. ### Decision: save the revised configuration or continue editing 7. When **Selected Columns** contains the fields you want to display, select **Save**. The application applies the changes to your personal My Page configuration. 8. If you want to make additional changes before applying them, return to **Available Columns** to add fields or **Selected Columns** to remove fields. Select **Save** only when the configuration is ready. > **Warning:** Adding or deleting a column changes the current configuration, but **Save** is the action that applies the revised personal My Page configuration. ## Examples A project manager wants to simplify the information shown on My Page before reviewing project work. 1. The project manager opens **My page** and compares **Available Columns** with **Selected Columns**. 2. The project manager identifies one useful field that is available but not currently selected. They select the field in **Available Columns** and select **Add**. 3. The project manager then identifies one selected column that is not needed for the current review. They select that column in **Selected Columns** and select **Delete**. 4. The project manager checks that **Selected Columns** now contains the intended set of displayed fields. 5. The project manager selects **Save** to apply the revised personal configuration. The saved My Page configuration now uses the selected set of columns. ## Tips > **Tip:** Review **Selected Columns** before adding a field to avoid including a field that is already displayed. > **Note:** Use **Available Columns** only to choose fields to add. Use **Selected Columns** only to choose fields to remove. > **Warning:** Do not select **Delete** after selecting a field in **Available Columns**. To remove a field, first select it in **Selected Columns**. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | **Add** does not add the intended field. | No field was selected in **Available Columns**, or the wrong field was selected. | Select the required field in **Available Columns**, then select **Add**. | | **Delete** does not remove the intended column. | No column was selected in **Selected Columns**, or the wrong column was selected. | Select the column to remove in **Selected Columns**, then select **Delete**. | | The revised column selection is not applied. | The changes were not saved. | Review **Selected Columns** and select **Save**. | | A required field is no longer displayed. | It was removed from **Selected Columns**. | Locate the field in **Available Columns**, select **Add**, then select **Save**. | ## Related pages - [My account](doc:my-account) - [My — Overview](doc:my-overview) - [My — Learning Path](doc:workflows-my) - [Your First Day with Redmine (Rails fixture)](doc:getting-started-first-day) # Projects _Applications › Projects_ ![Projects](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/2f1e2125097ecf6df674b72ecdba1a4e.png#atloria-annotations=%7B%22annotations%22%3A%5B%7B%22type%22%3A%22box%22%2C%22x%22%3A1.06%2C%22y%22%3A15.01%2C%22w%22%3A1.48%2C%22h%22%3A3.62%2C%22label%22%3A%223%20%20Status%22%7D%2C%7B%22type%22%3A%22box%22%2C%22x%22%3A71.52%2C%22y%22%3A15.01%2C%22w%22%3A6.58%2C%22h%22%3A3.62%2C%22label%22%3A%225%20%20Add%20filter%22%7D%5D%7D) *Projects* ![Status](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/aa38e2f5c4c3d39ecc14d4edcce5b909.png) ![Add filter](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/a50d95f8ca6a9296679d452239dcfd89.png) ## Overview Projects is the central area for reviewing and opening the Projects that are available to you. A Project is a managed body of work containing related Issues and project information. Project managers use this area to review a portfolio, project team members use it to enter a Project and locate work, and Issue reporters use it to open accessible Issues. Use the Projects list when you need to find a Project by its Status or associated Board, adjust the information displayed, group comparable Projects, or continue from a Project to its Issues. ## Settings Before reviewing Projects, configure the list controls to show the information needed for the current review. These controls affect how you locate and compare Projects in the Projects list. | Control | Use | |---|---| | **Filters** | Opens the filtering controls for the Projects list. | | **Add filter** | Adds criteria that narrow the displayed Projects. | | **Status** | Identifies Projects by their current Status. | | **Board** | Identifies Projects associated with a particular Board. | | **Available Columns** | Shows fields that can be added to the Projects list or report view. | | **Selected Columns** | Shows fields currently displayed in the list or report view. | | **Group results by** | Organizes the displayed Projects into groups. | > **Note** > Use filters and grouping to focus the current review. Only Projects that are available to you can be opened. ## Workflow ### Start from the Projects list 1. Select **Projects** to open the list of Projects that you can access. 2. Decide whether you already know the Project to open: - To open a known Project, select its **Project name**. - To review or compare Projects first, use the filtering and organization controls before opening a Project. 3. Review the visible list information, including the current **Status** and any displayed columns. Use this information to determine which Project requires attention. ### Narrow or organize the Project portfolio 4. Select **Filters** when the Projects list contains more records than you need for the current review. 5. Select **Add filter** and choose the criteria that identify the relevant Projects: - Select **Status** to focus on Projects with a particular current Status. - Select **Board** to focus on Projects associated with a particular Board. 6. Decide whether the current list contains sufficient information: - To see additional fields, review **Available Columns** and add the fields needed for the comparison. - To confirm which fields are already displayed, review **Selected Columns**. - To compare Projects by a shared characteristic, use **Group results by**. 7. Select the required **Project name** to open that Project. > **Tip** > Use **Selected Columns** before adding fields from **Available Columns**. This helps you avoid reviewing duplicate or unnecessary information in the list. ### Open an Issue from a Project 8. In the selected Project, select **Issues** to open the Project’s Issue list. 9. Decide whether the Issue list needs to be narrowed: - If you need to focus on a subset of Issues, select **Filter** and apply the required criteria. - If the required Issue is already visible, continue without filtering. 10. Select the **Issue subject or Issue identifier** for the Issue that you need to review. The Issue record opens. > **Note** > You must have access to both the Project and the selected Issue. A Project being visible does not by itself confirm access to every Issue. ### Review personal Issue activity before returning to Projects 11. When you need to begin from your personal work summary, select **admin**. 12. Choose the Issue perspective that matches your purpose: - Select **Assigned issues** to review Issues for which you are responsible. - Select **Reported issues** to review Issues that you created or reported. 13. Select **Projects** to move to the Project area and continue with Project review. 14. Use the remaining navigation controls only for their intended destination: - Select **Administration** to move to the Administration area. - Select **Search** to begin a search from the available navigation controls. - Select **My account** to open the account-related area. - Select **Sign out** to end the current session. ## Examples A project manager needs to review the Projects associated with the “Customer Delivery” Board and open an Issue in the relevant Project. 1. The project manager selects **Projects** to open the accessible Projects list. 2. The project manager selects **Filters**, then selects **Add filter**. 3. The project manager uses **Board** to identify Projects associated with the “Customer Delivery” Board. 4. To compare the remaining Projects, the project manager reviews **Selected Columns** and checks **Available Columns** for additional information needed in the review. The project manager then uses **Group results by** to organize the displayed Projects. 5. After identifying the required Project, the project manager selects its **Project name**. 6. In the Project, the project manager selects **Issues**. 7. Because the Issue list contains several records, the project manager selects **Filter** to narrow the list. 8. The project manager selects the appropriate **Issue subject or Issue identifier** to open the Issue record and review the tracked work item. The result is a focused Project review followed by direct access to the required Issue, without searching through unrelated Projects or Issues. ## Tips > **Tip** > Use **Status** when you need a quick view of Projects by their current state, and use **Board** when the review is organized around a discussion or communication area. > **Tip** > Select a **Project name** only after applying the filters, columns, and grouping needed for the decision. This keeps the Project list useful as a portfolio-review workspace. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | The required Project is not visible. | The Project may not be available to you, or the current filtering criteria may exclude it. | Review **Filters** and the criteria added through **Add filter**. If the Project is still unavailable, confirm that you have access to it. | | The Projects list does not show the information needed for comparison. | The required field is not currently displayed. | Review **Available Columns** to identify fields that can be added, and review **Selected Columns** to confirm the fields currently shown. | | The required Issue cannot be opened from a Project. | You may not have access to that Issue, or the Issue may not be visible in the current Issue list. | Select **Issues**, use **Filter** if needed, and confirm that you have access to the selected Issue. | | The wrong personal Issue list is displayed. | The selected perspective does not match your relationship to the Issue. | From **admin**, select **Assigned issues** for Issues for which you are responsible, or **Reported issues** for Issues that you created or reported. | ## Related pages - [Projects — Overview](doc:projects-overview) - [Projects — Learning Path](doc:workflows-projects) # Projects — Overview _Applications › Projects_ The Projects overview provides access to Project-related areas and personal navigation options. Project managers, Project team members, Issue reporters, and system administrators can use this feature to find Projects, Issues, News, Documents, and other project-related information without browsing each area separately. Apply matching restrictions when you need to narrow the result set to titles, all entered words, or open Issues. ## Settings Search settings are selected for the current search before you run it. The screen does not show a separate save action; choose the criteria that match the records you want to locate. | Setting | Purpose | |---|---| | Search field (⚲) | Enter the word or phrase to locate. | | All words (all_words) | Apply an all-words search criterion. | | Titles only (titles_only) | Restrict the search criterion to titles. | | Issues (issues) | Include Issues in the search. | | News (news) | Include News in the search. | | Documents (documents) | Include Documents in the search. | | Changesets (changesets) | Include Changesets in the search. | | Wiki pages (wiki_pages) | Include Wiki pages in the search. | | Messages (messages) | Include Messages in the search. | | Projects (projects) | Include Projects in the search. | | Open Issues (open_issues) | Restrict the search criterion to open Issues. | | Attachments (attachments) | Include Attachments in the search. | Use **Check all / Uncheck all** to select all available record types or clear the current record-type selections before making a more focused selection. > **Tip:** Select only the record types relevant to your task. For example, select **Issues (issues)** when looking for tracked work items, rather than searching every available record type. ## Workflow 1. Open the Search screen from the available navigation controls. If you are working from the personal administration area, select **Search** to begin a new search. ![Search](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/72be4cc1234ad571b08e2758cdbaffa8.png#atloria-annotations=%7B%22annotations%22%3A%5B%7B%22type%22%3A%22box%22%2C%22x%22%3A80.64%2C%22y%22%3A1.45%2C%22w%22%3A7.57%2C%22h%22%3A3.62%2C%22label%22%3A%221%20%20Search%22%7D%2C%7B%22type%22%3A%22marker%22%2C%22n%22%3A1%2C%22x%22%3A84.43%2C%22y%22%3A3.26%7D%2C%7B%22type%22%3A%22box%22%2C%22x%22%3A1.37%2C%22y%22%3A21.27%2C%22w%22%3A1.48%2C%22h%22%3A3.62%2C%22label%22%3A%223%20%20Issues%22%7D%2C%7B%22type%22%3A%22box%22%2C%22x%22%3A27.9%2C%22y%22%3A15.31%2C%22w%22%3A1.48%2C%22h%22%3A3.62%2C%22label%22%3A%224%20%20All%20words%22%7D%5D%7D) *Search* ![Search:](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/4240830457b24b90aaf8c61703c3ce1f.png) ![Issues](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/2f55b80ee607a1a51e79ba8099ff6244.png) ![All words](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/5cc6fa15d54c56321ce47b8f9f3105bc.png) 2. Enter the word or phrase you want to locate in the **Search field (⚲)**. Decide how broad the search should be: - To search across all available record types, use **Check all / Uncheck all** to select all types as needed. - To search a defined area, select the relevant types, such as **Issues (issues)**, **News (news)**, **Documents (documents)**, or **Projects (projects)**. - To search related technical or communication records, select **Changesets (changesets)**, **Wiki pages (wiki_pages)**, **Messages (messages)**, or **Attachments (attachments)**. 3. Apply restrictions when the initial scope is still too broad. Decide which restriction matches your purpose: - Select **All words (all_words)** when all entered words must be considered by the search criterion. - Select **Titles only (titles_only)** when you want to restrict the criterion to record titles. - Select **Open Issues (open_issues)** when you are looking only for open Issues. You can revise the search term, record types, and restrictions before submitting the search. 4. Select **Search** to run the search using the term, selected record types, and any restrictions. 5. Review the matching accessible records and continue in the appropriate record area. If your next task is to review your personal Issue activity rather than perform another search, select **admin** and choose one of the following options: - **Assigned issues** to open the perspective for Issues for which you are responsible. - **Reported issues** to open the perspective for Issues that you created or reported. - **Projects** to move to the Project area. - **Administration** to move to the Administration area. - **My account** to open the account-related area. - **Sign out** to end the current session. > **Note:** Search returns only records that you can access. If a record is not available to you, narrowing or broadening the search criteria will not make it accessible. ## Examples A Project manager needs to find open Issues related to a security upgrade before a project review. 1. Open Search. 2. Enter `security upgrade` in the **Search field (⚲)**. 3. Select **Issues (issues)** as the record type. Clear unrelated record types with **Check all / Uncheck all** if they are selected. 4. Select **All words (all_words)** so that the search criterion includes both words, and select **Open Issues (open_issues)** to limit the search to open Issues. 5. Select **Search**. 6. Review the accessible open Issues returned by the search and open the relevant Issue for the project review. If you need to review only Issues assigned to you after the search, select **admin**, then select **Assigned issues**. ## Tips > **Tip:** Use **Titles only (titles_only)** when you know the expected wording is likely to appear in a record title. > **Tip:** Use **Open Issues (open_issues)** for active work that still requires attention; do not select it when you also need to locate non-open Issues. > **Warning:** Selecting many record types can broaden the search considerably. Start with the most relevant types and expand the scope only if necessary. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | The expected Issue does not appear. | **Issues (issues)** may not be selected, **Open Issues (open_issues)** may exclude the Issue, or you may not have access to the record. | Select **Issues (issues)**, clear **Open Issues (open_issues)** if appropriate, and confirm that you can access the Project and Issue. | | The search returns too many records. | Too many record types are selected, or no matching restriction is applied. | Use **Check all / Uncheck all** to clear unrelated types, then select only the relevant record types. Consider **All words (all_words)** or **Titles only (titles_only)**. | | No records are returned for a multi-word term. | The selected restrictions may be narrower than intended. | Review **All words (all_words)** and **Titles only (titles_only)**, revise the search term or restrictions, and select **Search** again. | | You need to find Issues you are responsible for rather than perform a general search. | Search is not limited to your personal Issue activity. | Select **admin**, then select **Assigned issues**. Use **Reported issues** for Issues you created or reported. | ## Related pages - [Search — Overview](doc:search-overview) - [Search — Learning Path](doc:workflows-search) # Search — Overview _Applications › Search_ ## Overview Search provides a central area for locating information in the application. It is intended for Project managers, Project team members, Issue reporters, and System administrators who need to find relevant project-related content. It also provides access to account, navigation, help, and Administration links. ## What you can do here - Use **Search** to run a search request. - Refine a search using All words (**all_words**) or Titles only (**titles_only**). - Open account options through **My account** or end the current session with **Sign out**. - Navigate to **Home**, **My page**, **Projects**, **Activity**, **Administration**, or **Help**. - Select **admin** to access the item associated with that label. ## Related pages - [Search](doc:search-guide) - [Search — Learning Path](doc:workflows-search) # Users _Applications › Users_ ![Users](https://atloriaassets.blob.core.windows.net/assets/a438221c-c1af-407c-b9e6-a56c986db846/7e8b6e91d452f989337af8dd5f0ea119.png) *admin* ## Overview The user page provides a personal starting point for reviewing your Issue activity and navigating to related areas of the application. Use it when you need to check Issues assigned to you, review Issues that you reported, open Projects, access your account, or end your session. Project managers, Project team members, and Issue reporters can use this page to choose the appropriate next area based on the work they need to review. ## Workflow 1. Open the personal user page by selecting **admin**. Review the available Issue summaries before choosing where to continue. The page shows separate summaries for **Assigned issues** and **Reported issues**, allowing you to distinguish work for which you are responsible from work that you created or reported. > **Note:** The summary values indicate the current Issue activity shown on the personal page. Open the relevant Issue perspective to review the underlying records. 2. Decide whether you need to work on Issues assigned to you. - To review Issues for which you are responsible, select **Assigned issues**. - Use this option when you need to continue with work that has been assigned to you. The application opens the perspective for your assigned Issues. From there, review the Issues relevant to your responsibilities. 3. Decide whether you need to review Issues that you created or reported. - To review Issues you created or reported, select **Reported issues**. - Use this option when you need to follow the progress of a problem, request, task, or other Issue that you submitted. The application opens the perspective for your reported Issues. This separates your reporting activity from Issues that are assigned to you. 4. Decide whether you need to continue in a Project rather than an Issue summary. - Select **Projects** to move to the Project area. - Use the Project area when your next task concerns a managed body of work rather than your personal Issue summary. > **Tip:** Start with **Assigned issues** when you are deciding what to work on next. Start with **Reported issues** when you are checking the items you submitted. 5. Decide whether you need account, application, or search functions. - Select **My account** to open the account-related area. - Select **Administration** to move to the administration area. - Select **Search** to begin a search from the available navigation controls. - Select **Home** or **My page** when you need to return to the corresponding application navigation area. - Select **Help** to open the available help area. - Select **Redmine** to access the Redmine navigation control. 6. End the session when you have finished working. - Select **Sign out**. - Confirm that you have completed any required review before ending the current session. > **Warning:** Selecting **Sign out** ends the current session. Use it only when you have finished your work or are leaving the application. ## Examples A Project team member begins the day by opening **admin**. The personal page shows separate summaries for Issues assigned to the team member and Issues reported by the team member. 1. The team member selects **Assigned issues** because the immediate goal is to review work for which they are responsible. 2. After reviewing the assigned Issue perspective, the team member returns to **admin**. 3. The team member selects **Reported issues** to check the Issues they previously created, such as a reported problem affecting the *Website Refresh* Project. 4. The team member then selects **Projects** to continue to the Project area for *Website Refresh*. 5. At the end of the work session, the team member returns to the available navigation controls and selects **Sign out**. This workflow keeps responsibility-based work separate from reporting-based follow-up while providing direct access to the relevant Project area. ## Tips > **Tip:** Use **Assigned issues** and **Reported issues** as two different starting points: one for responsibility and one for reporting activity. > **Note:** Select **Administration** only when you need to move to the application’s Administration area. The personal user page itself is intended primarily for navigation and Issue activity review. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | |---|---|---| | You cannot see the Issues you expected under **Assigned issues**. | The Issues may not be assigned to you, or you may need access to the selected destination. | Confirm that you are reviewing the correct personal page and select **Assigned issues** again when you have access to the Issue perspective. | | You opened the wrong Issue perspective. | **Assigned issues** and **Reported issues** show different types of personal activity. | Return to **admin** and select **Assigned issues** for Issues you are responsible for, or **Reported issues** for Issues you created or reported. | | You need Project information rather than a personal Issue summary. | The personal page is showing your Issue activity. | Select **Projects** to move to the Project area. | | You have finished working but remain signed in. | The current session is still active. | Select **Sign out** to end the session. | ## Related pages - [users — Overview](doc:users-overview) - [Users — Learning Path](doc:workflows-users) # users — Overview _Applications › Users_ The Users area provides access to the current user's account-related information and personal work views.
