# Sales — Learning Path

_Learning Paths › Sales_

This learning path is for sales team members who need to monitor sales inquiries through offers, orders, delivery, loss, and exception states. After completing it, learners will be able to navigate the Sales workspace, review work by lifecycle status, use the appropriate exception lists for follow-up, and create and maintain an Orders list layout for operational review.

## Learning objectives

- By the end of this path you can navigate the Sales workspace and locate sales work in the appropriate list.
- By the end of this path you can distinguish active inquiry, offer, order, delivered, and lost work for daily follow-up.
- By the end of this path you can review cancelled, rejected, regretted, and deleted work in the relevant excluded lists.
- By the end of this path you can use Sales jobs and Buyouts as supporting Sales work areas.
- By the end of this path you can create, update, export, and remove an Orders list layout for operational review.

## Prerequisites

- Access to the Sales app.
- Access to the **Orders** screen and its layout controls: **Add Layout**, **Layout name**, **Columns Chooser**, **Save**, **Update Current**, **Delete Current**, **Delete**, and **Export**.
- Familiarity with your organization’s sales inquiry and order terminology.

## Module 1: Find and orient sales work

**Goal:** Build confidence locating sales work before beginning follow-up or operational review.

### Lesson 1.1: Start with the complete sales work view

When you need an overall picture of sales activity, begin with the consolidated **All** list. Use this screen to orient yourself to the work currently represented in Sales, then move to a more focused list when you know which stage or outcome requires attention.

**Practice task:** Open **All** and identify which focused list you would use for an order requiring follow-up.

### Lesson 1.2: Begin work from sales inquiries

When your task starts with an inquiry, use **Iquiries** to focus on inquiry work rather than the full Sales population. If you are starting a new inquiry workflow, open **New Iquiry**; if you need to work with related Sales activity, review [Sales jobs](doc:sales-jobs-guide).

**Practice task:** Open **Iquiries**, then open **New Iquiry** to identify the entry point for new inquiry work.

## Module 2: Manage the active sales lifecycle

**Goal:** Review active work according to where it is in the sales lifecycle and determine the right operational list to use.

### Lesson 2.1: Follow inquiries through offers and orders

When an inquiry progresses into a commercial proposal, review it in **Offers**. When the work is an order requiring operational attention, use **Orders**. This separation helps you focus on proposal-stage work versus order-stage work without relying on the complete list.

**Practice task:** Open **Offers** and **Orders**, then state which list you would use to review an order.

### Lesson 2.2: Review completed and unsuccessful outcomes

When you need to assess outcomes rather than active work, use **Delivered** for delivered work and **Lost** for work that was lost. Use these outcome-specific lists to keep delivered and lost items separate from current inquiry, offer, and order follow-up.

**Practice task:** Open **Delivered** and **Lost**, then identify the correct list for a lost sales item.

## Module 3: Handle supporting and exception work

**Goal:** Locate supporting pricing activity and work that has moved into excluded or exception outcomes.

### Lesson 3.1: Access supporting pricing work

When you need to review pricing quotation activity that supports Sales work, use [Buyouts](doc:pricing-quotation-guide). Keep this work area distinct from the inquiry, offer, and order lifecycle lists so that pricing quotation review does not interrupt operational order review.

**Practice task:** Open [Buyouts](doc:pricing-quotation-guide) and return to **Orders** to compare the two work areas.

### Lesson 3.2: Review cancelled and declined work

When sales work has been cancelled, rejected, or cannot be offered, review the appropriate excluded list: **Cancelled Requests**, **Regretted to offer**, **Rejected Orders**, or **Cancelled Orders**. Each list isolates a different exception outcome so that it is not mixed with active work.

**Practice task:** Open **Rejected Orders** and **Cancelled Orders**, then identify which one applies to a rejected order.

### Lesson 3.3: Review removed inquiry records separately

When you need to check inquiries that are no longer in the active process because they were deleted, use **Deleted Inquiries**. Treat this as a separate review area from cancelled requests and cancelled orders, which remain available in their own excluded lists.

**Practice task:** Open **Deleted Inquiries** and identify it as the list for deleted rather than cancelled inquiry work.

## Module 4: Build an Orders layout for operational review

**Goal:** Configure a reusable Orders view that supports consistent operational review and controlled sharing of list output.

### Lesson 4.1: Create and save an operational Orders layout

When the standard **Orders** view does not present the information your review requires, create a dedicated layout. On the Orders screen, select **Add Layout**, provide a **Layout name**, and use **Columns Chooser** to select the columns needed for the review. Select **Save** to preserve the new layout.

**Practice task:** In **Orders**, create and save a layout with a meaningful Layout name and columns chosen through Columns Chooser.

### Lesson 4.2: Maintain, export, and retire Orders layouts

When an existing operational layout needs refinement, open it on **Orders**, adjust its columns with **Columns Chooser**, and select **Update Current** to save the changes to that layout. Use **Export** when you need output from the list. When a layout is obsolete, use **Delete Current** and then **Delete** to remove it.

**Practice task:** Open an Orders layout, update it using Update Current, use Export, and identify the controls used to remove an obsolete layout.

## Final assessment

1. You need a broad starting point before deciding whether to work offers, orders, or delivered items. Which screen should you open first?

2. A sales item has become an order and requires operational review. Which screen should you use, and what layout capability can help tailor that review?

3. An order was not accepted and must be reviewed outside the active order list. Which excluded screen is appropriate?

4. You need to create a reusable Orders review that shows only the columns relevant to your team. What sequence of controls should you use?

5. A previously useful Orders layout is no longer needed. What controls should you use to remove it, rather than merely leaving it unused?

### Answers

1. ****All**** — It provides the consolidated starting view before moving to a lifecycle-specific list.

2. ****Orders**, using a saved layout created with Add Layout and Columns Chooser** — Orders is the operational order list, and layouts tailor the visible columns.

3. ****Rejected Orders**** — This list isolates orders that were rejected from active orders.

4. **Add Layout → Layout name → Columns Chooser → Save** — These controls create, name, configure, and save the new Orders layout.

5. **Delete Current → Delete** — These controls remove the currently selected obsolete Orders layout.
