# Configure Users

## Overview

Use the **Users** area to create and maintain user records for the security configuration of the application. Administrators use this form to set up user information, assign user roles, associate branches or warehouses, and configure approval limits. Use this configuration when adding a new company user or principal user, or when updating an existing user record.

## Before you start

Ensure that you can access **Security > Users**. Prepare the user details and the required role, branch or warehouse, and approval-limit assignments before creating the record.

## Steps

1. Navigate to **Security > Users**.

2. Locate an existing user record, or select **New company user** or **New principal user** to create the corresponding user record type.

3. Complete the configuration areas in the tab order shown on the user form: **User Information, User Roles, Branches / Warehouse**, and **Approval Limit**.

4. Select **Save** to retain the configuration and continue working on the record. Select **Save and Close** when the user configuration is complete.

## User Information

Use the **User Information** tab to configure the primary information for the user record. This tab is the first configuration stage for both new and existing users.

When creating a record from **New company user** or **New principal user**, begin on this tab before proceeding to the remaining configuration tabs. Select **Save** after entering the required user information if you need to retain the record before continuing.

## User Roles

Use the **User Roles** tab to configure the roles assigned to the user. Roles are maintained as part of the user security record.

Configure the applicable role assignments for the user, then continue to **Branches / Warehouse**. Select **Save** to retain the user role configuration.

## Branches / Warehouse

Use the **Branches / Warehouse** tab to configure the branches or warehouses associated with the user record.

Review and configure the branch or warehouse associations required for the user. Continue to **Approval Limit** after completing this configuration area.

## Approval Limit

Use the **Approval Limit** tab to configure approval-limit information for the user record.

Complete the approval-limit configuration that applies to the user. Select **Save and Close** when all user configuration tabs have been completed.

## Tips & cautions

> **Tip:** Complete the configuration tabs in their displayed order to ensure that user information, user roles, branch or warehouse associations, and approval limits are reviewed together.

> **Note:** Use **Save** when you need to retain changes while continuing to configure the user record. Use **Save and Close** after the full configuration is complete.

> **Warning:** Select the appropriate creation action—**New company user** or **New principal user**—before entering configuration details.

## Troubleshooting

- The required user record type is not available → The creation action has not been selected → Return to **Users** and select **New company user** or **New principal user**.

- Changes are not retained while configuring tabs → The record has not been saved → Select **Save** before leaving the user record.

- The user form remains open after configuration → The close action has not been used → Select **Save and Close** after completing all tabs.

## Result

The user record is configured with user information, user roles, branch or warehouse associations, and approval-limit information.
