# Configure Roles

## Overview

Use the **Roles** form to configure role records within the security area of the application. Administrators use this form when establishing or maintaining the roles available to users. Begin this task from **Security Section** when you need to add a role configuration.

## Before you start

Ensure that **Roles** is available from **Security Section** in your application navigation.

## Steps

1. From **Security Section**, select **Roles**.

2. Select **New** to open the role configuration form.

3. Review the configuration areas displayed on the form, including **Dashboard, Activities**, and **Configurations**, and complete the role configuration according to your organization’s security requirements.

4. When the configuration is ready, select **Save**. Alternatively, select **Save and Close**.

## Tips & cautions

> **Note:** The role configuration form provides both **Save** and **Save and Close** actions.

> **Tip:** Use the **Search box** on the **Roles** page to locate role records in the list before opening or creating a role.

## Result

The role configuration form has been completed using an available save action.
