## Overview

The Products page provides a searchable list of product records used in business operations. Sales representatives, account managers, project managers, purchasing officers, warehouse managers, and inventory controllers can use it to locate products and work with the product list in a layout that suits their responsibilities.

The list displays product-related columns such as Product Description, Category, Group, Withdrawal, Valuation, and Internal product. Use the page when you need to find an existing product, begin a new product record, or adjust the visible list layout.

## Settings

Before working extensively with the product list, select or create a suitable layout. A layout controls how the Products list is presented, including the columns available through the Columns Chooser.

1. Open **Configurations** > **Company** > **Products**.

2. Decide whether to use the standard list arrangement or a saved custom arrangement:
   - Select **Standard Layout** to return to the standard product-list layout.
   - Select **Add Layout** to create an additional layout.
   - Enter a descriptive value in **Layout name** when naming a layout.

3. Use **Columns Chooser** to review and choose the columns shown in the list. Keep the columns that help you identify products for your current task, such as Product Description or Category.

> **Tip:** Use a layout that matches the decision you need to make. For example, purchasing users may need different visible product columns from warehouse users.

4. To retain changes to the current layout, select **Save** or **Update Current**, as appropriate.

5. If a saved layout is no longer required, select **Delete Current**. If you are deleting a selected item through the deletion action, select **Delete**.

> **Warning:** Deleting the current layout removes that saved layout selection. Use **Standard Layout** if you only need to return to the standard arrangement.

## Workflow

### Find an existing product or start a new one

1. Open **Configurations** > **Company** > **Products** and review the product list.

2. To locate an existing record, enter a relevant word or identifier in **Search** and use the available **Search box** control. Review the resulting rows using the visible product columns.

   Use terms that distinguish the product, such as a product description, category, group, or internal product reference shown in the list.

3. Decide whether the product already exists:
   - If the product is listed, select the appropriate row and use the available **edit** action when you need to work with that record.
   - If the product is not listed, select **New** to begin a new product record.

4. When you have started a new record, complete the product information available on the screen that opens. The Products list itself does not display the product-entry fields, so only enter values in the controls presented for the new record.

> **Note:** Search before selecting **New**. This helps prevent creating a second record for a product that is already available in the Products list.

### Decide how to view the product list

5. If the current columns do not provide enough information to identify the correct product, select **Columns Chooser**.

6. Choose the columns required for your task, then decide how to retain the view:
   - Select **Update Current** to apply changes to the currently selected layout.
   - Enter a value in **Layout name** and select **Add Layout** when you need a separate layout for this view.
   - Select **Cancel** if you do not want to keep the layout changes.

7. Select **Save** after making layout changes that you want to retain.

8. If you need to restore the default presentation, select **Standard Layout**. Use this option instead of deleting a layout when your objective is only to return to the standard view.

### Maintain saved list layouts

9. Review the current layout before changing it. Use **Layout name** to identify the layout you are working with.

10. Decide whether to revise or remove the selected layout:
    - To revise it, make the required column choices and select **Update Current**.
    - To remove it, select **Delete Current**.
    - To abandon an unfinished change, select **Cancel**.

11. Use **Previous Page** to return to the prior screen when you have completed your product search or layout work.

## Examples

A purchasing officer needs to check whether a gasket required for a buyout is already maintained as a product.

1. The purchasing officer opens **Configurations** > **Company** > **Products**.

2. In **Search**, the officer enters `Gasket` and uses the **Search box** control to narrow the product list.

3. The officer reviews the matching rows. If the visible columns are insufficient to distinguish the correct item, the officer selects **Columns Chooser** and includes the product-identification columns needed for the review.

4. The officer decides that the current list view should be retained for future buyout checks. In **Layout name**, the officer enters `Purchasing product review` and selects **Add Layout**.

5. The officer selects **Save** to retain the layout.

6. If the search identifies the required product, the officer selects that row and uses **edit** to work with the existing record. If no suitable product is found, the officer selects **New** to begin a product record instead.

7. After completing the review, the officer can select **Standard Layout** to return the list to its standard presentation, or keep the saved purchasing layout for the next product search.

## Tips

> **Tip:** Use specific search terms. A distinctive description or internal reference is more likely to identify the intended product than a broad category term.

> **Note:** The Products page is a list and layout workspace. Product information visible in the list depends on the selected columns and layout.

> **Warning:** Select **Delete Current** only when you intend to remove the saved layout currently in use. It is not necessary to delete a layout merely to change the columns temporarily.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The required product is not visible. | The list has not been narrowed using an appropriate search term, or the relevant identifying column is not displayed. | Use **Search** with a more specific term, then use **Columns Chooser** to show suitable product-identification columns. |
| The list does not show the columns needed for the task. | The selected layout does not include those columns. | Select **Columns Chooser**, adjust the displayed columns, and select **Update Current** or **Save** as required. |
| Layout changes should not be retained. | Changes have been made but are not wanted. | Select **Cancel** before saving, or select **Standard Layout** to return to the standard list arrangement. |
| A saved layout is no longer appropriate. | The current layout was created for a different role or task. | Select **Standard Layout**, create a new layout with **Add Layout**, or remove the obsolete one with **Delete Current**. |
