# Understanding the interface

## What the authenticated workspace is

The authenticated workspace is Atloria's application entry surface: the place where you
choose a destination and begin work with projects, documents, operations, and workspace
settings. The Dashboard opens this workspace with a summary of projects, generations, and
chat answers.

The workspace uses three regions. A sticky top bar provides the current context and shell
tools. A sidebar groups destinations. The main content area holds the page you open, such as
the Dashboard and its recent projects.

Use this page to orient yourself before opening a specific work area:

| If you need to… | Go to |
|---|---|
| Choose a destination from the application navigation | [Find a workspace destination](#find-a-workspace-destination) |
| Recognize the top bar, sidebar, and main content area | [Understand the workspace regions](#understand-the-workspace-regions) |
| Open search or review notifications | [Use the top-bar tools](#use-the-top-bar-tools) |
| Work from a smaller screen or with platform access | [Handle viewport and access variations](#handle-viewport-and-access-variations) |
| Continue with project work | [Projects overview](doc:projects-overview) |
| Continue with document work | [Documents overview](doc:documents-overview) |
| Continue with operational work | [Operations overview](doc:operations-overview) |
| Read measurements | [Analytics overview](doc:analytics-overview) |
| Learn the product's purpose | [What is Atloria](doc:what-is-atloria) |

## Before you start

The authenticated workspace is for a signed-in user. Sign in before using its navigation;
the top bar shows the signed-in user's name and the **Sign out** control when a session user is
present.

Platform administration is a separate access branch. When your account has platform-admin
access, the navigation includes the Platform section and its **Organizations** destination.

The Dashboard shell does not ask you to complete input fields or validation groups before
using its navigation. Select a destination to move into the work area that owns the task.

## Find a workspace destination

The sidebar is the navigation list for the authenticated workspace. Each destination is
grouped by the kind of work it supports, so you can choose a reader-facing label instead of
entering a route.

**Prerequisites**

- You are signed in to Atloria.
- You know which kind of work you want to begin.

**Steps**

1. In the sidebar, choose the group that matches your work, then select the destination from
   this table.

   | If you need to… | Choose a destination |
   |---|---|
   | Open the application home or manage project and document work | In the Workspace group, select **Dashboard**, **Projects**, or **Documents** |
   | To review operational work or media | Select **Operations**, **Analytics**, **Screenshots**, **Videos**, or **Captured Flows** in the Enterprise group |
   | Work with the support assistant | In the AI & Tools group, select **Support Agent** |
   | Triage work or manage organization settings and payments | In the Settings group, select **Desk**, **Issues**, **Organization**, **Branding**, **Integrations**, or **Billing** |
   | Manage platform organizations | In the Platform group, select **Organizations** |

The selected destination becomes the active navigation item. The application uses an exact
match for **Dashboard** and **Settings** roots, and keeps a parent destination active while
you work in one of its deeper pages.

**Result:** The selected workspace page opens, and its destination remains identifiable in
the sidebar.

## Understand the workspace regions

The Dashboard is the workspace's starting view: the top bar keeps shell tools available, the
sidebar keeps destinations together, and the main content area presents the current page.

On a large screen, the sidebar remains visible beside the main content. The Dashboard main
area starts with the Dashboard heading and a summary of projects, generations, and chat
answers. When projects are available, the recent-projects table lists the headers
Project, Docs, Categories, and Updated.

When more than four projects are available, the recent-projects area also provides **View
all**. Use it to open the projects list rather than selecting one of the recent rows.

## Use the top-bar tools

The top bar is the shared control area for search, notifications, workspace context, and the
current session. Use it when you need a cross-workspace command or a quick review of
notifications without changing the destination in the sidebar.

**Prerequisites**

- You are signed in to Atloria.
- You are on an authenticated workspace page.

**Steps**

1. Select the top-bar tool that answers your immediate need.

   | If you need to… | Select | What happens |
   |---|---|---|
   | Open the global command palette | **Search** | The command palette opens. |
   | Review notifications | **Notifications** | The notification panel opens; when unread notifications exist, select **Mark all read**. When the list is empty, it displays `No notifications yet`. |
   | End the current session | **Sign out** | The application routes you to the login page. |

**Result:** The selected shell tool is open, the notification panel shows its current state,
or the session ends at the login page.

## Handle viewport and access variations

The navigation interaction changes with screen size and platform access. On a large screen,
the sidebar is beside the page. On a smaller screen, open the menu to reach the same navigation
surface. Platform administrators also receive a Platform destination.

**Prerequisites**

- You are signed in to Atloria.
- You know whether you are working on a small screen or with platform-admin access.

**Steps**

1. Use the navigation surface that matches your screen and access, then select the destination
   you need.

   | If… | Action |
   |---|---|
   | You are on a small screen | Select **Menu**, then select the destination. |
   | The mobile sidebar is open | Select **Close sidebar**, then select the destination. |
   | Your account has platform-admin access | Select **Organizations** in **Platform**. |
   | You are on a large screen | Select the destination in the sidebar beside the main content. |

**Result:** The appropriate navigation surface is available, and the selected destination
opens without changing the work area you intended to use.

## When dashboard information is unavailable

Dashboard activity and notifications are supporting information around the workspace you are
using. If activity cannot be loaded, the Dashboard displays `7-day activity unavailable`.
If the notification list has no items, the notifications panel displays `No notifications
yet`.

| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| `7-day activity unavailable` | Continue with the workspace destination you need. |
| `No notifications yet` | Continue with the current workspace destination. |

## Continue to the next workspace task

The authenticated shell hands you to the destination that owns your next task. Choose the
destination from the sidebar, or use **View all** when you need the complete projects list.

**Prerequisites**

- You know which workspace task you want to continue.
- You are signed in to Atloria.

**Steps**

1. Select the next destination from this table.

   | If you want to… | Continue with |
   |---|---|
   | Work with projects | [Projects overview](doc:projects-overview) |
   | Work with documents | [Documents overview](doc:documents-overview) |
   | Run or monitor documentation work | [Operations overview](doc:operations-overview) |
   | Read measurements | [Analytics overview](doc:analytics-overview) |
   | Move between application destinations | [Navigation basics](doc:navigation-basics) |
   | Personalize workspace choices | [Personalizing your workspace](doc:personalizing-your-workspace) |
   | Open the complete project list from the Dashboard | **View all** |

**Result:** The workspace page for the next task opens, or the complete projects list is
available.
