# Navigate to a Project by Slug

A project slug is the project-specific part of an Atloria link. It helps Atloria open the correct project workspace, and it also provides the starting point for project-level User Guides and individual documents.

## Overview

Atloria uses a project slug to identify which project you are viewing. In a project URL, the slug appears immediately after the project portion of the address. The placeholder `[slugId]` means “the slug for the project you want to open”; you do not type the square brackets when using a real link.

For example, a project link opens the project dashboard first. From that project location, Atloria can also open more specific content, such as a User Guide audience or an individual document. This structure keeps content grouped under the correct project.

Use project navigation by slug when a colleague shares a direct project link, when you bookmark a project, or when you need to confirm that you are working in the intended project before opening its documentation.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

- Access to Atloria.
- Permission to view the project you want to open.
- The project’s direct link or its slug from a colleague, bookmark, or approved workspace reference.
- An active Atloria session if the project requires you to sign in.
- The project name available if you plan to locate it through **Projects** instead of using a direct link.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

### Open a project from a direct link

1. Copy the Atloria project link that contains the project slug.

2. Paste the project link into your browser’s address bar.

3. Press **Enter** to open the project.

4. Confirm that the project dashboard opens for the intended project.

5. Select **User Guides** if you want to view documentation associated with that project.

### Open a project from the Atloria workspace

1. Select **Workspace** to return to your workspace area.

2. Select **Projects** to view available projects.

3. Enter the project name in **Search projects...**.

4. Select the matching project from the results.

5. Select **Actions** for the selected project.

6. Select **Open Project Dashboard**.

7. Verify that the dashboard belongs to the project you intended to open.

8. Select **← Back to Projects** when you need to return to the project list.

### Use the project slug to open more specific content

1. Open the project link that contains the project slug.

2. Select **User Guides** to move from the project dashboard to its documentation area.

3. Select the audience or documentation section you need.

4. Select the individual document you want to read.

The project slug remains the project identifier as you move deeper into project content. A project-level link opens the main project area, while more detailed links can open a specific audience and then a specific document within that same project.

## Tips and Best Practices

- Treat the project slug as part of the project’s identity in Atloria. If two project names are similar, use the shared direct link to avoid opening the wrong project.

- Do not type `[slugId]` literally into a link. The brackets indicate a variable project value in URL examples. A real project link contains the project’s actual slug in that position.

- Bookmark direct project links that you use frequently. This can be faster than searching through **Projects**, especially when you regularly work in one focused project.

- Start at the project dashboard when you are unsure where a shared document belongs. From there, select **User Guides** to stay within the documentation for that project.

- Use **Search projects...** when you know the project name but do not have its direct link. Use the broader **Search across all projects...** option when you need to search beyond the current project list or context.

- Check the active project before you create or manage content. The workspace can show an **Active Project** and provide **New Project** options, so confirming the current project helps prevent work from being placed in the wrong location.

- Be careful with project-level actions. **Delete Project** is a project action, not a navigation option. Use **Open Project Dashboard** when your goal is simply to view or work in a project.

## Troubleshooting

### The project link does not open the expected project

Check that the link includes the correct project slug. If the link was copied manually, request a new direct link from the project owner or open **Projects** and use **Search projects...** to locate the project by name.

### You can open Atloria but cannot find the project

Select **Projects** and search using **Search projects...**. If the project still does not appear, you may not have access to it, or the project name may differ from the name you were given. Contact the project owner or workspace administrator for confirmation.

### A shared link opens the project but not the intended document

Open the project dashboard first, then select **User Guides** and navigate to the needed audience or document. A project link identifies the project; more specific links are needed to open a particular document directly.
