# Open a Source Entity by Slug

A slug is the readable identifier Atloria uses to locate a discovered source entity within a project. This page explains how to use a slug to open the correct source entity and confirm that you are viewing the intended project context.

## Overview

When Atloria discovers source entities and their relationships, it assigns each entity a slug-based identifier. You can use this identifier when you receive a shared Atloria link, open a source reference from another document, or return to a source entity you reviewed previously.

Opening an entity by slug is useful when entity names are similar, when a project contains many discovered sources, or when a teammate sends you a direct link. The slug directs you to a specific public project view and can continue into an audience or document view when those details are available.

After you open the entity, use the project navigation to review its source information, related documentation, and available analysis. The **Source** option is the primary place to verify the source context associated with the entity.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

- Access to the Atloria project that contains the discovered source entity.
- The entity’s slug or a direct Atloria link provided by a teammate, report, or related document.
- Permission to view the project’s source information.
- A web browser with an active Atloria session, if the project is not publicly available.
- The project name or a distinctive keyword, in case you need to locate the project from the **Projects** area.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open the Atloria link that contains the source entity slug.

2. Review the page that opens to confirm that it belongs to the expected Atloria project.

3. Select **Open Project Dashboard** if you need to move from the shared entity view into the project workspace.

4. Click **Source** to open the project’s source information.

5. Compare the displayed source name and project context with the slug or link you received.

6. Select **View Source** when it is available to inspect the underlying source details for the entity.

7. Click **Open →** when you need to open the available source-related item or continue into its detailed view.

8. Select **User Docs** if you need supporting documentation for the source entity or related product information.

9. Click **← Back to Projects** when you have finished reviewing the entity and want to return to the project list.

### If You Need to Find the Project First

1. Select **Projects** from the Atloria navigation.

2. Click the **Search projects...** field.

3. Enter the project name, a recognizable source name, or another keyword associated with the slug.

4. Select the matching project from the search results.

5. Click **Open** to enter the selected project.

6. Select **Source** to locate and verify the source information associated with the slug.

## Tips and Best Practices

- Treat a slug as an identifier, not as a display name. A source entity’s visible name may be similar to another entity, while its slug is intended to identify the specific entity referenced by the link.

- Start with the direct shared link when one is available. This reduces the chance of opening a similarly named project or source entity through search.

- Verify the project context after opening the link. If the expected source details are not available, use **Open Project Dashboard** and then **Source** to confirm that you are in the correct project.

- Use **View Source** for verification rather than relying only on a document title or a related page. Source information is the best place to confirm that the entity matches the intended discovered source.

- Use **Search projects...** only when you do not have a working direct link or need to locate the project manually. Search terms based on the project name are generally more reliable than abbreviated or informal entity names.

- If a shared link opens a more specific audience or document view, first confirm the project context, then use the available navigation to return to the source information as needed.

## Troubleshooting

### The link does not open the expected source entity

Confirm that you copied the complete link, including the slug. If the link still opens an unexpected project or page, open **Projects**, use **Search projects...** to locate the expected project, select **Open**, and then choose **Source** to verify the entity manually.

### I can open the project but cannot find source details

Select **Open Project Dashboard**, then click **Source**. If **View Source** is not available, the source details may not be available in your current view or you may not have permission to access them. Contact the project owner or your Atloria administrator.

### The project search returns multiple similar results

Use a more specific term in **Search projects...**, such as the full project name. After selecting a result, click **Open** and verify the source through **Source** before continuing.
