# Configure Project Settings

Project settings let you organize how a project is identified and how its documentation workspace is configured. Use these settings when you create a new project, update an existing project’s scope, or adjust the options used to generate and present documentation.

## Overview

Atloria provides project-level settings so you can manage each project independently from the **Projects** hub. This is useful when your organization maintains multiple applications, repositories, or documentation workspaces and needs each one to have its own configuration.

From a project’s settings area, you can work with three configuration sections:

- **General Settings** for the project’s primary setup and identity.
- **Parser Settings** for options related to how Atloria processes the project.
- **Template Settings** for documentation workspace and presentation options.

The available settings are organized in the **Project Sidebar**, helping you move between project workspaces without returning to the organization-wide **Projects** list. When your configuration is complete, you can use **View Your Documentation →** to review the resulting documentation workspace.

## Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

- Access to the Atloria workspace that contains the project.
- A project listed in the **Projects** hub.
- Permission to open and manage the project’s **Settings**.
- The project information and documentation requirements you want to apply.
- A clear understanding of whether you need to update general project information, parser behavior, template choices, or all three.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Select **Projects** from the **Workspace Sidebar**.

2. Use **Search projects...** if you need to find a project in a large project list.

3. Select the project you want to configure from the **Projects** list.

4. Open **Settings** from the project workspace.

5. Select **General Settings** in the settings navigation.

6. Review the general project setup information shown in **General Settings**.

7. Update the available general settings to reflect the project’s current identity and scope.

8. Save or confirm your general settings changes using the available on-screen action.

9. Select **Parser Settings** in the settings navigation.

10. Review the available parser configuration options for the selected project.

11. Adjust the parser options that match the technologies and content included in your project.

12. Save or confirm your parser settings changes using the available on-screen action.

13. Select **Template Settings** in the settings navigation.

14. Review the available documentation template and workspace options.

15. Choose the template settings that best match the documentation experience you want users to see.

16. Save or confirm your template settings changes using the available on-screen action.

17. Select **View Your Documentation →** to open the project’s documentation and verify the configured experience.

18. Select **Open Project Dashboard** if you want to return to the project’s primary workspace after reviewing the documentation.

## Tips and Best Practices

- Configure **General Settings** before changing parser or template options. This helps ensure you are working in the correct project and applying changes to the intended documentation workspace.

- Use **Parser Settings** when the project’s content or technology coverage changes. For example, revisit these options after adding a major frontend, backend, database, API schema, configuration, documentation, or infrastructure area to the project.

- Treat **Template Settings** as presentation choices for the documentation workspace. Review the documentation after changing these settings by selecting **View Your Documentation →**.

- Configure one project at a time. The **Workspace Sidebar** gives access to the broader workspace, while the **Project Sidebar** applies to the currently selected project.

- Use **← Back to Projects** when you need to switch projects rather than editing the current project’s settings.

- Avoid using **Delete Project** as part of routine configuration. Deletion is separate from updating settings and should only be used when the project is no longer needed.

- If you are onboarding a new project, complete the configuration before relying on the documentation workspace. A project may show a configured state, such as **Configured**, after its setup has been completed.

## Troubleshooting

### You cannot find the project you want to configure

1. Select **Projects** in the **Workspace Sidebar**.

2. Enter the project name in **Search projects...**.

3. Select the matching project from the results.

4. If the project is not listed, verify that you are in the correct workspace or ask an administrator to confirm your project access.

### You are editing the wrong project

1. Select **← Back to Projects**.

2. Locate the correct project by using **Search projects...** or browsing the project list.

3. Select the correct project.

4. Open **Settings** again before making changes.

### Your documentation does not reflect the settings you expected

1. Open **Settings** for the active project.

2. Review **General Settings**, **Parser Settings**, and **Template Settings** to confirm the intended configuration.

3. Save or confirm any corrections using the available on-screen action.

4. Select **View Your Documentation →** to review the documentation workspace again.

5. If the issue continues, verify that you are working in the intended **Active Project** rather than a **New Project** or another project workspace.
