# Inventory transfers and returns

## Inventory transfers and returns

Inventory transfers and returns organize the movement of goods and the work that follows it.
Use this page for receipts, deliveries, internal transfers, manufacturings, batches, waves,
returns, destruction certificates, inter-company transfers, scheduler runs, scrap, and landed
costs. These destinations sit under Inventory operations and adjustments.

| If you need to… | Go to |
|---|---|
| Receive goods | [Find the inventory work](#find-the-inventory-work), then choose **Receipts** |

| Process a return or destruction certificate | [Handle batches, returns, and inventory extras](#handle-batches-returns-and-inventory-extras), then choose **All Returns** or **Destruction Certificates** |
| Record an inter-company movement | [Process inventory movements and transfers](#process-inventory-movements-and-transfers), then choose **Inter-Company Transfers** |

Before opening a destination, continue with Before you start.

## Before you start

The inventory destinations covered here are listed under the Inventory menu. Before you begin,
know which movement or return job you need to perform and which destination names it uses.

Begin with the destination that matches the work you need to do rather than entering information
in an unrelated list.

When you know the work, continue with [Find the inventory work](#find-the-inventory-work).

## Find the inventory work

Use this procedure when you need to reach a movement, return, destruction, inter-company, batch,
or landed-cost list.

**Prerequisites**

- You can sign in to Sherkety ERP.
- You know whether you are looking for a movement, a return, a destruction certificate, an
inter-company transfer, a batch, a wave, a scheduler run, scrap, or landed costs.

**Steps**

1. Open **Inventory**.
2. Open **Operations** for receipts, deliveries, internal movements, manufacturings, batches,
   waves, returns, and inter-company transfers.
3. Open **Transfers** when the destination is grouped under transfers.
4. Choose the destination that matches your work.

   | If you need to… | Choose |
   |---|---|
   | Work with incoming goods | **Receipts** |
   | Work with grouped movements | **Batch Transfers** |
   | Work with movements between companies | **Inter-Company Transfers** |
   | Work with returns | **All Returns** |
   | Work with destruction records | **Destruction Certificates** |
   | Work with added inventory costs | **Landed Costs** |

**Result:** The destination that matches your inventory work is selected. Review the selected
destination before entering inventory information.

## Understand the available screens

Each inventory work type has its own destination rather than one combined entry screen.

Appearance settings control the application's look. If they open, you are not in an Inventory
destination. The appearance settings include these controls:

| Control | Type |
|---|---|
| **Menu Style** | Select |
| **Font Type** | Select |
| **Preloader Option** | Select |
| **Theme Colors** | Select |
| **Brand Color** | Select |
| **Background Color** | Select |
| **Sidebar Color** | Select |
| **Chatter Position** | Select |

The appearance settings screen does not show inventory grid columns. Treat these settings as
appearance controls, not as fields for a receipt, delivery, transfer, return, destruction certificate,
inter-company transfer, batch, wave, scheduler run, scrap record, or landed cost.

> **Note:** The screen also provides **Save** and **Reset To Default** for its appearance settings.

When the destination is an Inventory list, continue with [Process inventory movements and transfers](#process-inventory-movements-and-transfers) or [Handle batches, returns, and inventory extras](#handle-batches-returns-and-inventory-extras).

## Process inventory movements and transfers

Movement work records goods coming in, going out, between internal locations, through
manufacturing, or between companies. Use the destination that names the movement you need.

### Choose a movement destination

**Prerequisites**

- You know which kind of movement you are starting.

**Steps**

1. Open **Inventory**.
2. Open **Operations**.
3. Choose the matching destination from the table.

   | If you need to… | Choose |
   |---|---|
   | Receive goods | **Receipts** |
   | Deliver goods | **Deliveries** |
   | Move goods internally | **Internal** |
   | Record manufacturing movements | **Manufacturings** |
   | Move goods between companies | **Inter-Company Transfers** |

**Result:** The movement destination matching your work is selected. For grouped movements,
returns, or other inventory operations, continue with [Handle batches, returns, and inventory extras](#handle-batches-returns-and-inventory-extras).

## Handle batches, returns, and inventory extras

Batch and wave work groups movements; returns and destruction handle goods coming back or leaving
stock; scheduler runs, scrap, and landed costs cover additional inventory operations.

### Choose a batch, return, or extra destination

**Prerequisites**

- You know which branch of inventory work you need.

**Steps**

1. Open **Inventory**.
2. Open **Operations** for batches, waves, returns, destruction certificates, and scheduler runs.
3. Choose the matching destination from the table.

   | If you need to… | Choose |
   |---|---|
   | Work with grouped movements | **Batch Transfers** |
   | Work with wave movements | **Wave Transfers** |
   | Process returns | **Returns** or **All Returns** |
   | Record destruction | **Destruction Certificates** |
   | Run inventory scheduling | **Run Scheduler** |
   | Record scrap | **Scrap** |
   | Apply landed costs | **Landed Costs** |

**Result:** The selected batch, return, or inventory-extra destination is open. If a different
screen appears, use [When the screen is not the one you need](#when-the-screen-is-not-the-one-you-need).

## When the screen is not the one you need

Use this procedure when the application opens appearance settings or remains at sign-in instead of
showing an Inventory destination.

**Prerequisites**

- You know which Inventory destination you need.

**Steps**

1. Check the screen heading.
2. Choose the corrective action in this table.

   | If you see… | Do this |
   |---|---|
   | The sign-in form remains after you submit your details | Check your sign-in details and retry. |
   | The application menu opens instead of the requested Inventory list | Open **Inventory**. |
   | appearance settings, **Menu Style**, or **Brand Color** | Return to **Inventory**. |

3. Choose the destination that matches your work.

**Result:** The Inventory destination that matches your work is selected. Continue with [Know what comes next](#know-what-comes-next).
